There's a difference between "name of player - I think he's a good player", even "name of player - would love to see him at Burnley", which would qualify as informal discussions about players, and "name of player - why aren't we all over him, it's a disgrace and a shows a real lack of ambition, the club is a shambles", which is (often) astonishing.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 2:41 pmIf posters on this message board should only suggest signing the players for whom they know all about their personal circumstances and if they'd be willing to play here, well...

Record fee and wages apparently. Says it takes time when big money involved.
How anyone could say the club/Pace aren't trying to strengthen is beyond me.

Something I'm finding hard to understand is why we got rid of Benson and are said to be looking at Bannan.
Hardly makes sense??
Hardly makes sense??
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Maybe Benson made it clear he wanted to go and play first team football rather than be a squad man at Burnley and play 3 games a year? Fair play to him if so.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
There is no proof at all we are offering this to Cornet or any other player, so you can't say for sure the club/Pace are trying to strengthen.....it's fake news unless the club officially come out with a quoteArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:03 pmRecord fee and wages apparently. Not much place on this thread for sense sadly, as displayed by the nonsense you had to reply tomaccclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:01 pmThere's a difference between "name of player - I think he's a good player", even "name of player - would love to see him at Burnley", which would qualify as informal discussions about players, and "name of player - why aren't we all over him, it's a disgrace and a shows a real lack of ambition, the club is a shambles", which is (often) astonishing.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Is there much of the latter on this thread when confined to an isolated player? I'm not sure there is. I've seen those posts in relation to the transfer policy as a whole, but very, very rarely about one player in particular.maccclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:01 pmThere's a difference between "name of player - I think he's a good player", even "name of player - would love to see him at Burnley", which would qualify as informal discussions about players, and "name of player - why aren't we all over him, it's a disgrace and a shows a real lack of ambition, the club is a shambles", which is (often) astonishing.

No that’s what Nixon said. Would be up there with our highest earners apparently. Not as much as dyche though..!
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Just wondering with Cornet if Lyon want to sell and have accepted our offer but the player himself isn't keen on joining us. Seems to be more than just money holding this up.

That's very likely but maybe the offer from Barnsley was better than ours, which would be disappointing.
If we can't integrate our own U23s into the first team, but think we can do better with the likes of Stephens ( and Bannon) there is somethi g not quite right.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It is, or if it can't be fun, at least try and keep it pleasant. Some get themselves far too worked up over what gets posted on an informal message board.

It's the mentality of a certain breed of supporter. If we have money, we need to spend it 'now'. If we are negotiating to buy a player, why is it not straight forward like on a computer game? I honestly think that some look at how quickly the money rich clubs can do things and think we should be the same.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:03 pmRecord fee and wages apparently. It's bonkers. We still need to be frugal even with our new-found backers.
I struggle to think of a club that has raised its profile as much as ours has without the backing of some beneficiary or other, and managed to maintain it. Just let people do their jobs, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Nobody knows what is going on with Cornet. Maybe we have agreed all the terms but would prefer Maitland Niles and will only sign Cornet when that deal falls through. Maybe, as others say, he simply does not want to come to Burnley.
We are not entitled to know and time will tell

Presume cornet would be first choice with the coverage it’s getting. Nixon still suggesting move could happen but idk if he has a clue or not. AMN would be nice too but no rumours recently about that. I’d guess we’d want AMN as a cm first and like the versatility he has to play rb and rw.
Let’s get both

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We may have looked at him as a midfielder or right winger. The position that he’s excelled in is right back / right wing back.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 4:48 pmPresume cornet would be first choice with the coverage it’s getting. Probably two plus two equalling five, but interesting that we’ve been linked to two players who could fill both wing back positions.

I would imagine a lot of background work is done on potential signings (not specifically Cornet) before we even speak to the clubs. I think it would be rare for two clubs to agree and the player not having shown keenness/willingness to make the move.

Bannan will know Ross Wallace from Wednesday. Wallace coaches in the academy. United just signed Paul McShane to play as an over age player and to coach on the field during u23 games. Maybe Bannan is thinking of moving into coaching?

I don’t understand why Berlin is so highly rated on here. It’s bloody cold in winter….…most of its historic architecture was destroyed in 1945, I find it a bit bland and soulless.
I’d much sooner have lively Manchester and Cheshire is a brilliant place to live.
