Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Our team for the last two seasons has played 95% of our attacks from wide. We are desperately short of a ball carrying midfielder, now Berge has gone. Ridiculously we seem to be selling all our widemen at once leaving us with no attacking threat. As neither of our central midfielders can carry and neither has a killer pass. They are a couple of workhorses, though very good at that.
I’m happy with all 3 keepers.
Happy with FBs and CBs, could probably do with a back up for Pires unless Dodgson is considered adequate.
Happy with Cullen and Brownhill but short the ball carrier and decent back up.
Desperate for wingers and expect 1 bought and 1 on loan.
Desperate for a goalscorer. Foster and JRod aren’t the answer.
Hard times but solvable.

The way things are going with most of the 1st squad are leaving, he might be needed sooner than we thoughtburnley007 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 3:48 pmThis just made me spit my tea out. It's like someone is just making stuff up to be funny now.

These need to be first team starting quality not squad players. If we replace with the likes of Hountondji were in for a long season

Not fussed on large volume influx - need quality. Must sign first eleven (I.e, better than we have) striker, right winger and central midfielder. That is on the proviso of nobody else (barring the seemingly inevitable Weghorst, Benson, Al-Dakhil etc).
Sell Koleosho and Amdouni and you can add another winger and striker, but we need to really dissuade that from happening. It would be preposterous honestly.

A very very poor source. They are late to every transfer.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:17 pmTurfcast are hinting there’s a medical happening?

Really hope for Philip Billing - I know it was just a suggestion on here but he is literally the perfect replacement for Berge and with the amount we’ve brought in should theoretically be attainable.

I am hoping for a few stellar signings this week. Lets face it if Steve Cotterill and Owen Coyle were able to, we should, having just sold circa £100m of players in the last 10 days. Neither of them had any analytical tools, they just went on being savvy and having knowledge.

Agree with this especially as he has already worked with SP.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:22 pmReally hope for Philip Billing - I know it was just a suggestion on here but he is literally the perfect replacement for Berge and with the amount we’ve brought in should theoretically be attainable.
More feasible as a loan to buy if we go up.

Believe we can go up to 6 loans in this Division. I know Humphreys is one-do we still potentially have another 5 slots

Tbf Turfcast said al-dakhil was leaving just after longside claret said a player who hadn’t featured yet was moving to Germany. Then Sacha picked up on it.claretskeith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:27 pmThey haven't. They've been behind with everything. And I'm talking 24 hours.
He also said in one of his podcasts 2 weeks ago that Joe worrall was lined up if O’Shea left

Will always love Jack Cork but with our squad size issues, is putting a 35 year old who hasn’t played for over a year in there really a good use of one of those slots?

you do realise he's just a fan like the rest of us and for the most part collates info and sticks it all in one place. He clearly now does have good contacts and for me he's been a huge positive to the fan experience.claretskeith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:27 pmThey haven't. They've been behind with everything. Re-signing Cork would put the tin hat on a ludicrous week. No-one else has wanted him.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:34 pmWill always love Jack Cork but with our squad size issues, is putting a 35 year old who hasn’t played for over a year in there really a good use of one of those slots?

If Jack cork is already back coaching with the u21s but being lined up for a potential spot in the squad, surely that would come at the end of the window once we have attempted to get all our targets

Stellar signings? Quality signings? When I posted that we should be looking at bringing in a couple of players with experience above Championship level I was quickly informed such signings are out of our reach financially.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:23 pmI am hoping for a few stellar signings this week. We must be the only club in history who has sold best part of £100 million worth of talent, receives around £45 million in year one of parachute payments, yet seemingly can't afford to buy any decent players...worrying times..kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:37 pmStellar signings? Recieivng £45m in parachutes will just about cover the wage bill for the year.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:48 pmWe must be the only club in history who has sold best part of £100 million worth of talent, receives around £45 million in year one of parachute payments, yet seemingly can't afford to buy any decent players...worrying times..
£100m in sales will likely cover most of last years overspend when the board backed Kompany.
Other clubs like Fulham who spent similar (100m in the PL) and came down posted a £75m loss in the Championship which their billionaire owner covered. Obv ALK’s model is quite different to that.
General point I agree though, but we’ll have to see what happens this week.

I'm guessing he wouldn't sign JR1882's autograph book, or perhaps JT wouldn't give him his gloves; they're all going back to school next week, so JR1882 no doubt wanted them for his 'what I did in the holidays' project.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 2:22 pmI was at Sunderland yesterday.
You obviously saw things I didn’t. What did Trafford do to warrant this accusation?
