'Anders has a thigh, Tom has a calf' ~ it's good to know that between them they can at least make a leg.

If only they'd been around when we signed Joe Gallagher. They could have combined to make one good pair.ClaretCliffofDover wrote:'Anders has a thigh, Tom has a calf' ~ it's good to know that between them they can at least make a leg.

Defour will appear in an u23 game sometime mid September and get subbed off after 60 minutes. He’ll then be “touch and go” until January.
I know the script

Seriously what exactly is going on with Defour? He just never seems to get any closer to full fitness and all this touch and go becomes months and months. I thought that he would have been ready for the new season when he had his op last season.

The road to recovery is always the most dangerous time for footballers as they push muscles that have been relaxed during a long layoff. Secondary injuries are common and that is why so much care is taken bringing players back.gandhisflipflop wrote:Seriously what exactly is going on with Defour? Fair enough. Its highly frustrating.
Re: ARTICLE: Players still ruled out for Euro clash
I like Defour a lot but im not sure we should be renewing his contract as the amount we are paying him is not getting us time on the pitch.

Maybe not funny but probably accurate. Very good player but how many full 90 minutes has he completed?fidelcastro wrote:And that's funny, is it?
Re: ARTICLE: Players still ruled out for Euro clash
I dont know what happened with Clucas but we definitely need one or two good midfield players in. A tough defending type and a creator.

The day you give a genuine counter-opinion on something rather than just bringing out the eye roll will be a glorious one.fidelcastro wrote:And that's funny, is it?

I agree with that he has become a real sick note of a player and its an area screaming out for his talentBlackrod wrote:I like Defour a lot but im not sure we should be renewing his contract as the amount we are paying him is not getting us time on the pitch.
He his getting on a bit now and I am sure this is the reason his injury's are taking there tole on recovery and the damage can severely deplete a player ability
Re: ARTICLE: Players still ruled out for Euro clash
Replacing Defour’s genuine quality will not be easy, but I certainly think we should look for a genuine technician as opposed to a workhorse. It shows against similar level clubs when you have a player who could arguably play at a higher level. A Sam Clucas type just wouldn’t cut it, in my opinion, hence why I was opposed to his signing.
