BFCSG: Burnley v Watford
Our brief statement following Wednesday's postponement.
We have spoken to our club and the Premier League but no response from Watford.

Very well put.
Let’s be honest, Watford got exactly what they wanted out of this…. Almost as if they’d set off from down south with this in mind due to their already depleted squad.

I fully support this statement - football fans again being treated disrespectfully, on this occasion by one club and the league.

I think it is the least we could expect.
Burnley’s fan base is scattered far and wide for many different reasons. As I mentioned before two of us travelled up from Cornwall to be at the game.

Watford reimbursing their travelling fans. Seeing as they called the whole match off, why don't they reimburse Burnley fans as well.
Why don't they pay for all the food given away, and the wages of the stewards and all.
I don't see any reason why BFC , should have to pick up the tab for any of this, and I'm sure it would deter a repeat.

Well said but it seems that it is fashionable these days for people in authority to have total disregard those who they deem to be below them.

Re: BFCSG: Burnley v Watford
Why would Watford want to cancel this game?
Surely they see us as one of the easier targets in the league.

I think you’ll find that Watford have lost 11 league games this season and Burnley have only lost 6. They had a number of injuries to key players and are in a run of defeats. They will want their strongest side out to make sure they get the vital points. Oh why am I bothering to try and explain this ……..

I understand that they are on a bad run. But surely they must see playing against one of the bottom teams as a chance to turn it around.beeholeclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:19 pmI think you’ll find that Watford have lost 11 league games this season and Burnley have only lost 5. I can’t imagine they are actively cheating to avoid a game against us

Good to read CT. Shame some people ruin and informative thread by trying to start a fight in a paper bag.

This statement, I would think is not about whether Watford had injuries to key players, it's about the way supporters of both clubs have just been ignored in the whole process.
On the point of Watford reimbursing their fans. All they have done is offered a refund on tickets and on the club run coaches from which they would have been making a profit in the first place.

Re: BFCSG: Burnley v Watford
I'd travelled 6 miles to town at 4.30 in the afternoon and was just finishing my first pint when it was called off and I was peed off. BUT, I was then talking to a guy from Watford who had been there since lunchtime and had a hotel room in town and was now hopelessly out of pocket, as well as Clarets who had travelled from the Midlands. I knew then that I was one of the lucky ones! Awful, but as others have said I don't expect anyone to held to account for it because a. It's only Burnley and Watford and we don't count like fans of say Man Utd count and b. The "it's Covid" and health and safety always comes first card will be played, so no other explanation will be forthcoming.

And 3 from Devon here

Sadly for match attending fans we are bottom of the list when it comes to the PL.

Anyone got any updates regarding forthcoming matches? According to BBC only our game and the Leeds match are going ahead tomorrow.
