Re: U18's v Rovers today
Great to see. Are our various youth teams now comfortably on a par (or perhaps even better) than Rovers? Or are we still catching up after years of under investment?

Re: U18's v Rovers today
Blackburn have been top of that league for long periods this season and are still second behind Manchester City although Liverpoool and Manchester United are now within striking distance. At under-23 level, we are still a league below them.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 2:59 pmGreat to see. Liverpool went above them at the weekend when they put 10 past Leeds.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:05 pmBlackburn have been top of that league for long periods this season and are still second behind Manchester City although Liverpoool and Manchester United are now within striking distance. Well done young Clarets. Well done, Will Couch. Grandad will be very proud of that one.

At last some good news to savour, well done young Clarets. Even sweeter when you nick it in the dying seconds. especially against that lot.

Re: U18's v Rovers today
Reported by the Premier League as Livepool 1 Leeds 3 when it was actually Liverpool 10 Leeds 3 which is why the league table was incorrect on here. I'll get that corrected.

Re: U18's v Rovers today
....these are the released Will Couch's last 3 games for Burnley U18s.
Middlesbrough 0- 1 Burnley (goal)
Burnley 1 -1 Sunderland (assist)
Blackburn 1-2 Burnley (goal)
It's a brutal very subjective game.

Astonishing that the club have not put out any info regarding the academy retained list

Re: U18's v Rovers today
So overall we had a comfortable 3-1 win. Rovers truly are the gift that keeps on giving
Re: U18's v Rovers today
It was good but a little surprising to see Will Couch playing and scoring.
I presume technically the story about him having had a trial at Wednesday but still playing for his is possible. But it seems a bit odd to me unless they've:
i) turned him down;
ii) agreed to let him finish his contract with us.
Whatever, it seems a pity.

Re: U18's v Rovers today
It happens that players continue to play for us having been released. Both Adrian Stone and James Clarke played in the Lancashire Senior Cup final three years ago having both been released.ecc wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 12:08 pmIt was good but a little surprising to see Will Couch playing and scoring.

Thank you, Tony. Seems sadly ironic that the lad is performing well. If he has gone full credit to him for continuing to give his all.

Re: U18's v Rovers today
Tucked away on another thread is the suggestion that released players (or players who know they won’t have their contract renewed) can’t/won’t turn out and give 100%. Given as a possible reason for us being shite when it matters.
Seems this lad can show them the way.

Apparently Couch (not Hugill) got the assist again last night.
So his last 4 games (3 wins and 1 draw) are goal, assist, goal, assist...wonder what he'll get v Everton away this weekend if he's selected ?

Re: U18's v Rovers today
We don't know that Will Couch hasn't been retained, just speculation based on him going out on trial, isn't it?
That could also be his own choice, wanting to see if he could make the leap to an U23 setup where he would be a regular starter next season if he's been told that won't be the case here. That's how we ended up with Max Thompson.
