Dyche does think in terms of a 'Team for the season', he likes that idea of one size fits all situations.
The players must realise their future chances of playing this season depend heavily on the next 10 days or so, after that he's about as rigid as Ed's stone.

So rigid that he stuck with the same team that were appalling at Hull on boxing day, and went on a 23 game unbeaten run, which ended in winning the title.
So rigid Ward never got in the team half way through the season and didn't go on to be one of the most consistent performers for the next 18 months.

I often think he is reactive not pro active, but to think once the team and foremation is picked it wont change is crazy.
We did change things previously we just couldn't make multiple changes in tactics or persona without effecting the qualityl, however We have far more depth and quality than ever before, so to think things won't improve is just rediculous.

It has to be said that the biggest critics of our team and manager do tend to be people who are balls deep in vegetables.

Careful those who love to criticise the club can't deal with being criticised themselves and their lip begins to tremble

Possibly you just don't understand it.
I think SD, like many managers, has a first choice in each position. It's up to the second choices to provide competition for the first team slot; to be ready in case of injury etc. It's not that difficult really.

SD more than any manager I have known has a set formula.
He believes fervently in continuity and he has masses of evidence to justify that stance.
Players that know what is required of them who get to know each other's play tend to do better.
The downside is when the best that that system can offer isn't enough then it becomes a liability.
Will he become more flexible, well he has the opportunity given the squad he has, and he needs to show he can be adaptable if he is to get to the next level, but he is an innately conservative manager.

F*** me. Give it a rest ABC.It's getting to the point where I no longer want to visit this forum. Every thread; there you are, trotting out the same repetitive ****. Over and over again. Are you being paid by FootyMAD? I just hope to god we start the season with a few wins/good performances, that way you might just ease off on the post count...like you did during the promotion season (you don't like it when we win, do you)?

Will do. Just maybe cut down a little bit and maybe then I will no longer want to repeatedly smash my laptop into my face. Thanks. I feel better now for some reason.

I'll second this.
There's no subtlety to the tutt anymore. There used to be, but as people have become wise to your game you've just gone scattergun starting inane threads and making the same nonsense comments on virtually every thread.
You had a good act but you've been on way, way, way too long and I can only echo the thoughts that you're allowed to post in this manner because it ups the post rate which brings in advertisers.

Well thank you for that Socrates, as one who has always denounced everything I say I really take comfort from your comments of my past qualities which I suspect most don't recognise.
I would never go on anyone else's threads if my own weren't deleted, and then people could ignore my comments with impunity, as of course they could now if they so wished.

Pulis and Big Sam also have a set formula, which is why they keep getting hired to save clubs.
Over time they may change their styles when a club is safer, but its not often.
If Dyche did the same and kept us up for 7 yrs i think you'd be one of a small number having an issue with it.

Looking at the formations in pre-season I'd say he's certainly trying to be more flexible. He's played 4-5-1 in every game pretty much, with the odd bit of 4-4-2 thrown in for good measure. He's trying to see how his players react to new formations and gameplans. Give the guy a break. He's the most successful manager of the past 40 odd years, probably longer, so what more do you want?!
IMO it was great to see us set up with the midfield 5 of JBG, Defour, Cork, Hendrick and Brady last night. These are the footballers in our squad. Every one of them is capable of producing something. This time last season we were still turning out a 4-4-2 with Arfield, Marney, Jones and Boyd. If you can't see the improvement in the team then you really need to take a closer look!
