Any news on Jay Rod - his dad tweeted that his grandfather had passed away.

Big decision up front for SD. Perm any 2 from 3. I would have Wood on the bench

I really hope dyche does NOT drop Vydra for Wood, that would be just cruel..

Very harsh on Wood but I don't see how Dyche can drop Jay or Vydra just yet.

All indications are that the team will be unchanged, and why wouldn't it be.?
Vydra HAS to start.
Sean's mantra is that players have to be ready and if they get their chance, they have to take it. Vyds has done that with some style.

Me neither. Surely CW will have to wait for his chance, as would any other player returning from injury.

I'm not sure 'A little niggle' means the Gudders is ruled out. Sean certainly didn't say so at the press conference, he just said "We'll have to monitor that one." I suspect he'll be on the bench again. I hope so anyway.

I think Vydra will start but the pressure is on now for him and JR. Wood is not a bench warmer and any weakness in either's game may see them off for Wood. It is a rather pleasant problem to have. To have a 10 goal PL striker sat on your bench because we have 'other options' is a pretty wonderful position to be in. I hope Vydra starts and plays well enough to see out the game because I have (among others) been championing him on here for months.
On the JBG front - what the hell is wrong now - has he got severe cramp in his arse from sitting on the bench last week? I love this guy but he appears to be frail as f*ck. Without doubt one of the best players we have but FFS he doesn't half get through some sick notes. I just want the guy back on that pitch and soon - how much better might he be with Vydra and JR in the side now? Without meaning any disrespect to Wood but JR and Vydra with Mcneil and JBG on the wings has the potential to be a frightening combination - and we haven't even factored in Brownhill yet. I don't think anyone just now would fancy playing against that forward line.
Onwards and upwards.

I would never encourage negativity in the ground but it would be very interesting to see the crowd's reaction if Vydra was dropped for Wood - I don't believe it will happen but it could cause some odd feeling within the crowd if it did. One thing I think is certain, if Wood was preferred it would see the end of Vydra's Burnley career because he would then have to accept he is nothing more than a bit player after what he has done.
But it's all academic - BECAUSE HE WILL PLAY - AND SCORE - and Wood will be sat there thinking 'mmm - this guy is gonna take some moving now'.
Best I've known at the club in 45 years (or even longer).

House,
"Best I've known at the club in 45 years (or even longer)." Bit early to say that mate but he certainly scared the Saints and the Cherries.
Lets hope he scares the Magpies as well. I've never liked Magpies. Horrible birds.

Whatever happens in terms of the team, the players and fans are so far from each other at St. James' that I don't think the players could ever be aware of any reaction from the away fans.

A few weeks ago, anyone told me Wood would be kept out by Vydra, I'd have told them to have a sit down until it passed.
Not the case now.

Oh that's great - I thought it was someone really good.
To be honest, without meaning to seem over-confident, Spurs are not in a great place right now and we have a reasonable home record against them in the PL era. City are what they are, and what they are is nowhere near as good as what they have been. Having said all that they are 'free hits' and any points would be just a bonus.

I think Spurs at the moment are more than a free hit. If you were picking an 11 from the two teams, (Son and Kane excluded) what would it look like?

Spurs have been poor at times away from home this season, having lost to Southampton & Brighton and only drawing with Watford and Norwich.
Teams we find a pushover at the moment!

This is just the opposition where Vydra should start. They are excellent in the air at the back but his movement, more than pace will worry them.

I’m a happy clapper, so that means I support Dyche in his decision making. At the moment I’m enjoying the variety in our forward play. I’d sum it up by saying that Barnes and Wood run in straight lines, whilst Rodrigues and Vydra don’t.

Dyche will drop Vydra as soon as he goes a game without scoring. Dyche does not like Vydra and will revert to the team he picked in August as soon as he can as he always does. We are talking about a man who played a clearly injured Barnes for weeks over Jay Rod and Vydra remember. He picks his first 11 in August and only changes it throughout the season if it’s the last resort and as soon as he can revert back he does. Class manager he is.

What a load of B0ll0CKS, what evidence do you have that Sean Dyche doesn’t like Vydra

As people have said above the shirt is Vydra's to lose. Regardless of how he plays tomorrow he deserves a run of two to three games to keep working on the partnership with Jay before Wood is given a starting place.
The football last week especially the link up play between the midfield and two front men was fantastic to watch. I fear that Wood coming back into the team means we resort back to a different style of play whereas I would prefer to play more free flowing football. Wood however, has had a brilliant season.
It is a nice problem to have and not one we have had often.

A nice problem to have indeed, but it’s more of a problem for Steve Bruce who won’t know which defensive strategy he will need to set up. Some of his key defenders are carrying injuries and Bruce won’t know whether he needs to defend against an aerial bombardment through Wood or the speed of Vydra.

I think that both players will get game time. SD will use Wood early on when the game is tight - he will want him on the pitch for defensive duties (corners and free kicks) as well as a goal threat also from set pieces.
When/ if the game opens up Vydra will be introduced as a match winner.

Has JBG been reading Darren Andertons (stupid spellcheck) autobiography?
Vydra could be our secret weapon if We change our formation up in future, you could play him with Wood and Rodriguez no problem. Could also get Gibson in the side too.

I would sum it up as when Barnes & Wood play, the ball is in the air.
When Rodriguez & Vydra play, the ball is on the ground.

Goredaleman says he hates magpies and so do I - absolute nuisance we have flocks of five and six descending on the garden pinching all the bird food,
One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy, Five for silver, Six for gold ,Seven for a secret, never to be told ,Eight for a wish, Nine for a kiss, Ten for a bird you must not miss, Eleven for health, Twelve for wealth, Thirteen beware it's the devil himself.
Not sure what an eleven plus substitutes would be called? Let's hope it's "Defeated" or even "Nil" !!
