Made some good signings did Casper, certainly the nucleus of the 92 title winning side. Along with his predecessor Brian Miller, they steadied the ship and as Tony rightfully says, left the club in a better position than when they arrived. I've also really enjoyed these articles.

I've still got the watering can I bought in the B&Q opposite the ground after that Scarborough defeat. It had Frank's face stuck on it for a while as a reminder.

Surprising what you learn on reflection:
I was one of those who on more than one occasion joined the 'Casper Out' chants, but when you look at the side which won us the 4th Division Title, the overwhelming majority of its key members were brought in by Frank Casper rather than Jimmy Mullen; Jimmy might've been the one who coached and enthused them to success, but it was in essence 'Frank's Team'.

Thirty years late, but: Sorry Frank.

Another journey home to dwell on our situation after losing at Torquay. Not in the same category as the return from Crewe a few years before obviously but still a reality check.

One prediction I made that sadly came to be true, was that Burnley would not get out of the 4th Division while Frank Casper was in charge. The debacle at Scarborough was the final straw for me and I was pleased to hear that Frank had fallen on his sword. Reading the article, he got the building blocks in place for success but was unable to provide the cement to bring those parts together as a team. I also remember saying that I hope they don't take the cheap option and appoint his assistant as the next Manager......

The Torquay debacle was embarrassing.

Wasn't it an early kick off on a Sunday ? Fairly sure we went on a mini bus and left late Saturday night, Casper on the touchline looked worse than I did.

I think it was because I remember abandoning the "big screen" experience and heading on over to Towneley to keep wicket for Briercliffe that afternoon.

I always found it disappointing, that it wasn't Dobson/Casper, certainly their partnership was better than going their own way.

Don't forget Miller moved to Chief scout, obviously some great work there.

We gave him the benefit of the doubt from his first spell but he was dreadful, even to this day when The Clash "Rock the Casbah" is played I replace that bit with "Sack the Casper". Sad I know,

It was great to interview Frank for The Forgotten Fifteen - even though my voice recorder didn't work and we had to do it all again a week later at the Ram in Cliviger. He and Dobbo also came to my signing at Gigg in November 2015 which was proper above and beyond the call of duty.

Oooof! Well he's never minded me calling him that.

There were a few tales at the time of Frank being heavy on the sauce. Not sure about the truth behind this or whether I could blame him if it was true.

I was disappointed because Frank was on of my favourites as a player. Not the first good player to not make it as a manager.

I think he would have come good. That 1990/91 season was great with some really good stuff being played and the team starting to come together.
Some good stuff to start the 91/92 season too (Doncaster & Chesterfield).

Also my favourite manager as a person. Maybe that was part his downfall, maybe he needed to be more ruthless like Jimmy Mullen was with the goalkeeping position.

I think by the end of the Scarborough game he was too damaged
