“a night of embarrassment and shame for the club”

I actually thought you might not mention the game at all and just put Ben Mee's words. The game really doesn't matter, nor does the rest of the season. Its going to be difficult to support the club again while these morons are still associated in any way. i am glad that supporters cant attend at the moment.

The plane and even worse the defending of the actions on here by a number of posters, trying to dress it up as anything but a disgraceful racist act, is just incomprehensible.

I am optimistic we can bounce back on Thursday last night has left me depressed . I really hope that we can solve all the problems that are happening.

Well said ClaretTony. A desperately depressing and infamous night for the club

The end of the game couldn't come quick enough. That's consecutive games at the Etihad I've sat and just wished the time away. Onfield and off-field just about made it the most miserable night I've experienced following Burnley Football Club and I've been around long enough to witness plenty of 'lows'. I've no idea where we go from here but we can't continue to operate like this much longer. Something has to 'give'

The defeat was bad enough and extremely disappointing
given we didn't even compete or as such have a spell where we created a few chances.
The total dickhead who organised the plane/banner should be routed out and banned for life.

The only saving grace is the club and Ben Mees' comments.

Let's hope we can move on from it and get the few points we need to be
absolutely safe.

A big rebuilding job over the summer.

The banner stunt was pulled by a single idiot who has no official connections to Burnley FC.The club cannot control the actions of any supporters away from Turf Moor

I am not ashamed of being from Burnley and supporting MY team for over 60 years

The clubs response was quick and perfect as were the comments of Ben Mee. People are always going to have different opinions. I often
disagree with CT but that doesn’t mean I can call him names or accuse him of racism or whatever. I have know him for over 50 years and we will no doubt continue to respectfully disagree.

Last night was a night of shame for all who are trying to link the perpetrator to Burnley FC. It was not embarrassing to be crushed by arguably the best team in the world however it was both embarrassing and shameful for the club not to be able field a squad of 20 for a PL game televised worldwide.

Ben Mee's comments and exemplary behaviour were the only good points on an appalling night to be a Burnley supporter.

You've certainly got a point with that.

We usually lose heavily at Manchester City so the result was pretty much expected before the Team was announced and seeing the team and the bench I was expecting a bigger defeat than usual.
However the evening was ruined by some idiots with the plane which could not have helped the players
Life bans are needed
The report is well worded and presented, let’s hope the one for the Watford game, Tony ,will be easier and a happier one to produce

As usual an excellent report dealing with lots of challenging issues. However, I would have been more critical of our manager. To embarrass the Club with the make up of the bench was unacceptable imo. It had come and get me all over it.

Difficult to support the club? Give over, what a load of codswallop

For about 7-8 years at the turn of the century the follow up question to "Who do you support?" was "Are you a racist?" Even when it wasn't asked, it was often tangibly unsaid. I'm resolved for that again.

An awful and depressing night for the club.

My concern is that there is a rumour going around on here that further demonstrations by the same sort of racists idiots, is to take place on Thursday outside Turf Moor in support of the 'Banner'. Surely if it's known about here though, then Burnley FC and the police must also know about it? If not, then someone with a bit of cred at Burnley needs to tell them pronto.

Please don't let it happen. Burnley's reputation has already been dragged through the mud. We don't need the media jumping on another anti Burnley bandwagon.

Dyche isn't immune to criticism, and it's partly of his making that we're in this position, however who was he supposed to have sat on the bench, we're down to the bare bones, if the ooc players weren't going to participate, then it would have pointless having them on the bench.

Depends on what Lennon, Hart and Hendrick said and did really. I certainly don't know.

One Club for All - that's got to be our future.

I don't think the game mattered last night given that the players all saw the banner above them as they kicked off.

So proud how Ben Mee handled his captain's duties after the game.

How many morons were invloved. Not many I think. But stop supporting the team? Youve caught the prevailing culture well. Self flagellation and apologising. We're just going to have to get over this sad episode
Main thing for me is that the team recovers.

I couldn’t go and stand at the Turf at the moment given the proportion of people who are defending that action last night. As I said I’m glad it’s not a decision I have to make at present but the number of times you hear racist moronic comments these days watching Burnley it’s enough to turn you away from going in person at all.

I go to all home games, have for 50 yrs, yes moronic chants in 80s, but in all honesty I've only heard one racist comment round me in past 20 odd years, and that was dealt with.

If you're hearing such comments at the ground, then you should be reporting the offenders, that's the only way it'll be eradicated, zero tolerance from the club and the fans to stamp it out.

The only time I've heard overt racism was Ewood away in 2001. But it was a minimum of several hundred, if not thousands.

Last night and today is one of the lowest moments since that specific day.

I’ve reported it and to be fair Burnley stewards dealt with it quickly. But most of the comments you hear aren’t in the ground at least at home matches. There are racists everywhere but the proportion in Burnley is much higher than most places.
