Sadly I hear that John Talbut, former Burnley player who went to West Brom after us, has died.

RIP John. Apparently yet another ex-player to have dementia which he had had for 6 years.

RIP John.

Superb centre-half for us, had to be patient for his chance in the first team but took that opportunity so well when it eventually came. Almost ten years at the Turf. Very sad to hear this news.

Won't start a new thread but a few words now on site

First choice centre half for three seasons, very strong in the air and he went on to have three good years at West Brom too. My thoughts with his wife Ena, daughters Nicola & Debbie, son Mark and familes.

Saw John play a few times for us, as a kid.
Remember him in the side that won the cup with that Astle goal.

I think that we need a picture of John, for people who never saw him in his prime playing for the CLARETS.

His career at Burnley was coming to an end when I first followed the Clarets when I was 7...but a name I associate immediately to that great side of the early sixties.
Sad news. Condolences to his family.

R.I.P. John and condolences to his family.
He was a centre back in the Clarets team when I started watching Burnley regularly in 63/64 and I remember him well. Is it really 57 years ago.

A centre half that wouldn't have been out of place in our present defence, that says it all. Class and I understand a nice man.

Really sorry to read this sad news. JT was a top quality CB and at the time I can remember being disappointed when we sold him to WBA. RIP John and deepest condolences to his family.

Very sad. I remember in my youth in the 60s he lived on Red Lees Avenue, Jimmy Holland lived opposite. Frank Casper lived on the same side, presume at a slightly later date. Possibly the same house but my memory isn’t reliable as I was a bit young
