The two players previously mentioned on here as having played for us on trial have now been confirmed as signings

Good luck to both of them.

It's getting more and more frustrating for me not being able to watch the u18s and u23s and not seeing the new lads who have signed. But let's hope some of them come good and I can eventually see them.

Has anymore been said about Richard Nartey, the lad who was at Chelsea?

He definitely played last week but it might have just been a one of trial whereas the two who have signed today have been with us all season.

He looked really handy in the recent U23 game, good on the ball.

Don't know anything about them, but the fact we've taken the plunge and signed both suggests that the coaches must have seen something in them.
Best of luck to both, the last United cast off we signed didn't turn out too shabby, so if either of this pair make even half the impact Dwight did then I'll be more than happy.

Good luck to them.
Good to see us getting young players from the likes of Utd.

Dodgson looks like a young Cesc Fabregas in that picture - if only he has that kind of talent
on a separate note it sometimes feels like we have the biggest stock pile of left footers in the country

According to this article he came for a two week trail at the end of September. If he's still with us in November then perhaps there is some interest.

I found an interesting scouting report about him from his time with Burton
https://eflanalysis.com/analysis/richar ... is-tactics
Amazingly he's got a highlights video on youtube

Interesting though, he's turned 22. What's the point of recruiting him for the u23s if he's a long way off the standard of our first team?

I'm struggling to pick anything out of that highlights video.
Not even sure which is him tbh.

How usual is it for players to change clubs half way through a 2 year scholarship ?

Owen played for Lancashire Under 14 Schoolboys in 2016-2017. The Lancashire boys were unlucky to lose 1-2 to Berkshire in the National Semi-Final at Poolfoot Farm in 2017.

I remember a player called Ashley Young doing it around 12 years or so ago. He was at Burnley and moved to Bury. I think it is more likely to happen these days. I don't know the situation with the two new lads but United were committed to keeping them until the end of the season but have, maybe, told them that they won't be kept on. Or it could be that Burnley have offered them longer deals, nothing was said on that.
We signed Max Thompson part way through last season from Everton.
It's good. I think we should be looking to bring in young players at every level when we can to keep strengthening the academy. When we stepped up to Cat 2 three years ago we were a long way behind because of the previous five years. Someone once told me it takes two years to recover each year of neglect and we'd had five years of worse than neglect. We are moving forward very quickly and I like the idea that we are looking for new players at just about every age group.
We will have been keeping a very close eye on these two as we did with Thompson. We've got some good recruitment staff at that level too - one in particular I know of who we know as Pash.
