Re: ARTICLE: Manchester United at home for youths
First time I've seen Keelan Williams on the team sheet, his brother is Neco at Liverpool. We've got the new recruit Benn Ward in along with Dane McCullough from Portadown who is starting to get games now. But the most interesting name in the starting eleven is Tremaine Eastmond. He's a second year scholar but I can't ever recall him playing previously.
And then there is Charlie Casper - how on earth Frank has a goalkeeper for a grandson though I don't know.

He played over here in the CEE cup, and looked very skillful, but was quite frankly tiny. Would be interested to see how he has filled outClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 10:29 amFirst time I've seen Keelan Williams on the team sheet, his brother is Neco at Liverpool. He did yes, first time I'd seen him and the only time I've seen him play. Whether he's had a long term injury or something I have no idea, that info never comes out of our academy now. I thought he'd left to be honest but then was named as a sub recently.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:04 amHe played over here in the CEE cup, and looked very skillful, but was quite frankly tiny. Just beat me to it Leisure - cracking start.
Unwin is another player I've not seen. We picked him up last season from the fall out at Bury. I thought he was a midfielder but he's been playing up front recently and getting some goals.

Id wonder if they were simply waiting for him to fill out, but hard to say without seeing him now. Tbf though, he's a kid, im happy we dont hear much until they make the team. That is how it should beClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:07 amHe did yes, first time I'd seen him and the only time I've seen him play. Both Sam Unwin & Kade Ratchford were at Burnley as U8s but chose to sign for Man.City & Man.Utd.
Tremaine has also been at Burnley from an U8, but with not playing for about 16 month I'd presume he has had a long term injury.

Re: ARTICLE: Manchester United at home for youths
You've solved a puzzle Andingle as to why Tremaine hasn't played for us after 18 months as a scholar. I presumed it might be an injury but then the club, when they listed the U18 squad on the website, didn't give him a squad number which made me wonder whether he'd left.
I'm still to see any of the three you mention play at all, I'm sure I didn't see Unwin last season and Ratchford is a first year scholar this season.

Still 1-0
Following on the Academy Twitter page but sounds like we’ve had a few chances since the early goal.

Delighted about that.
Feels as though the club is coming together at all levels.

oooohhhh You'll never compete with those Manchester clubs though Andingle....... no sense that it wasn't always about winning the first contract, but being in position for the 1st bounce / 1st mistake eh?

Re: ARTICLE: Manchester United at home for youths
Beating Utd twice in a week, at 2 different age groups, we've come a long way very quickly.
It gives a real buzz to think of these lads rubbing shoulders with the best and competing. Great signs for the future. Fingers crossed, one or two stars of the future played today.

Im thrilled to bits with today’s result and with the progress we are making in the academy. I’m just so frustrated that I can’t get to any of these games currently.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 1:13 pmFingers crossed, one or two stars of the future played today.

Re: ARTICLE: Manchester United at home for youths
Why has the Youth Cup been suspended but youth level games still continue?
I presume it is down to COVID and certain safety aspects, but surely youth players are tested on the same basis as first team players if they're in and out of the training ground all week?

Tremendous result. Not a huge exaggeraration to say close on our first-team's result (yes, I know I'll be shot down in flames) in terms of importance.

Great to see this result after the midweek win in the Under 17 Cup. I am missing being able to watch matches at all levels but it is good that they are managing to play and get results like this.

Tony has stated that Keelan is a brother of Neco Williams of Liverpool F.C. Rhys Williams of Liverpool F.C. played for Lancashire Under 14 Schoolboys before being moved to a Liverpool school by Liverpool F.C. at the age of 15.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 10:59 amIs Keelan Williams a brother of Rhys Williams at Liverpool?

Re: ARTICLE: Manchester United at home for youths
Huge result for us ecc. While not helping to keep us in the Premier League it’s fantastic to see the continued improvement at this level.
Just under five years since our u18s ended a season with consecutive defeats against Bury, Tranmere, Shrewsbury, Carlisle, Accrington, Walsall, Preston, Wrexham & Port Vale. I’d never felt so low watching us at this level. Even playing against the likes of Man U is terrific, beating them is brilliant.
