Had that one written but I'd been told of a second game too which I had to start removing from the article.

Is the Burton one definitely BCD then? it was a little vague on the club site. I guess we can check the Burton site a little nearer the time to be sure

If it’s because of work being done on the pitch and they need it all sorted and safe for the start of the season then that’s not a bad thing…

Which is another reason for being away first game

I read it as Shrewsbury and Burton are not bcd.

Had the article ready and in the end all I needed to do was switch one club to Burton but mis-read the info.

Takes a while for a new pitch to bed in, especially when it’s being fitted with LEDs

Have we any info on the new pitch? Is it the same quality or are they downgrading with relegation?

Been a while since we were treated to a game involving The Crucifier.

Call him what you like but he's a damn good decent bloke who is very luck to be with us after last year.

Maybe they're trying to build up the anticipation to justify Luton being Cat A!

The comment is on his style of football. Not that he actually crucifies people.

Cheers.

It’s an annual thing at most football grounds, isn’t it?

Wouldn’t have said annual? I know they’re replaced occasionally. Just thought ours looked in mint condition last year & can’t see why we’d replace it?

Especially since it’s not seen much use last year…

Don't think anyone has said we are replacing it although it is 12 years old now. I am just assuming it's the shorter time we've had to do the annual maintenance on it.

I don’t think it’s always a full replacement but when not, I still think there is quite a bit of work goes into them in the off season.

They’re a lot more technical than just grass three days so quite what it involves, I’m not sure. Doesn’t ours have fibres woven into the grass or something like that?

I don't know what work has been carried out at Turf Moor but it will include sowing grass seed, at the very least amongst the existing grass. It has to be born in mind we are starting earlier then usual and after sowing, grass takes time to germinate and mature.

As CT said; our pitch is 12 years old- the Desso Grassmaster pitches are only designed to last 10 or so years. IIRC we were meant to have some pretty major work done on it two summers back but due to the shortened break then as a result of the first wave of Covid it wasn’t done.

I’m not sure how much was done last summer and obviously this year it’s a shortened period too due to the winter World Cup affecting start dates etc.

Not in summer with warm climate it won't.

Plenty of things they could be doing though.

As much as I've liked the odd pre season game, it might be for the better for VK to have a quiet one, with bringing in all these young players and changing the system.

There have been a few years but we’ve had better pre-seasons than this. Nothing to inspire.

I’m surprised there isn't a game on it if only for bedding in purposes. Unless they intend using it for a training day.
