No surprise to see Richard Bredice there.

This previous thread shared an article with him discussing data etc and working with Kompany.

Think you’d said he’d also been involved already towards the back end of the season.

We all just about knew who was here from snippets - Bellamy and Geers for definite. Like most managers now, he's brought in people he's worked with previously.

A bit of a loose canon, has had more than his fair share of “issues” but welcome aboard Craig!

Oh dear. Very highly rated coach who has had mental health issues. I think he could prove to be a key appointment given his experience in the English game.

Every successful team at this level needs a little sh*t in their corner. The one person opposition teams hate coming up against. Not the most talented person, but the most passionate and a will to win.

Last time we had Barton, this time it’s Bellamy.

He did the u21’s for VK at Anderlect didn’t he? or u23? No idea of the truth but there was rumours about bullying in Belgium before he left stating mental health issues. Didn’t Cardiff pot him for bullying academy kids too ? no idea about him being “ highly rated “ but VK knows him well and he’s a hugely experienced player whose done his badges . Never short on passion so deserves a chance .

I can't recall any rumours about bullying while he was coaching in Belgium. Is there a link to this?

He was investigated at Cardiff for which he apologised but didn't receive any disciplinary action.

Its frightening what the cost must be of the huge number of support staff at the club Gone are the days of Harry Potts and a trainer with a bucket of cold water and a sponge lol.

Who was the bucket and sponge man in that era. Remember he had a bald head and quite short, and did that role for years. He could really sprint too, and from memory a very popular member of the staff.Would have been early 70's

No problem with Bellamy.

I guarantee though that unless we score from every set piece this board will be awash with people moaning about that coach.

Things are starting to take shape very nicely. With Twine now in the team, and a set piece coach, I feel confident this will be a more productive part of our game, although until recent our corner delivery was very good. Direct free kicks should improve. Other than Cornet's goal from a free kick you need to go back to De Four v United, and Brady v Chelsea shortly after he joined. Then look at the goals Ward Prowse scores per season and equate that to points

Jimmy Holland.
I think we’d moved on beyond the bucket & sponge when Jimmy Holland started doing it. By then it was 1979. During most of the 1970s it was George Bray & Brian Miller.

I'm guessing but I'd have thought a set piece coach would be more tactical, dealing more with corners and free kicks played into the box rather than direct shots. I'd put taking a direct free kick down to technique and practice rather than a huge amount of coaching.

Good video and Bellamy making a point that he knows the championship and he's spent a lot of time watching it is worth noting, because some people have concerns that VK doesn't know/understand the championship

How else do you get contacts in the game?

By trusting those who you are closest to.

Nobody questioned Dyche’s decision to bring in Wigan and Loughlan…..

Well you don't really need one if all you do is either stick it just under the crossbar (corners) or lob it towards the penalty area and try to win the 2nd ball (free kicks).
The only surprise is how often it worked.
