Obviously a good move for Ben financially.

12 months from now I will be surprised if he isn't playing in the championship with Brentford

Good luck to him at Brentford, they're getting a good player and a great person to have in the dressing room.

Exactly the sort of player they need, great signing for them on a free, has to be one of the best free agents you’ll find for a club like Brentford.

Hope he keeps them up

I wish him well with his new club but I feel a sense of sadness that he is no longer a claret.

I think we all feel that sadness, I think Ben does too.

Not suggesting we had a chance of resigning either and this isn't necessarily a dig, but is it just me that gets the feeling that both Tarks and Mee have settled for clubs slightly below what they initially had in mind? Maybe Tarks more than Mee, was probably eyeing up a top 8 kind of club.

Either way, good luck to them both.

Agreed.
We can spin this anyway we like, but his departure is a huge loss.

Best to remember the good times he gave us.

Of all the departures, seeing Mee in another shirt will take the most getting used to.

Good luck to him. We certainly had good if not possibly the best years from him. Will be strange seeing him in a different shirt but life moves on. Wish him and his family all the best. I feel sure inside he will always " bee" a claret.

Brentford like to play out from the back something Ben isn't used to.

With Ben being prone to the odd mistake by being caught in possession, I can see him having a different relationship with the Bees fans than he did with ours

I wish Ben and his family all the best, he's been a brilliant warrior here and has put his all into into everything he's done whilst here.

I hope that at some point that we see him return in some capacity.

Thanks for some brilliant memories.

I'm pleased for Ben that he's got a PL club, although it is quite possible that we'll be swapping places with Brentford at the end of the season.

Good luck, Ben Mee, on your move to Brentford. Of course, you deserved to continue to play in the Premier League. Best wishes to you and Brentford for the coming season. I'm pleased you've chosen Brentford, it's my nearest Premier League football club. I've got good friends who are season ticket holders at Brentford. I will come along now and again to enjoy watching you play. Maybe I will see if I can get a ticket for Brentford v Everton.

Of course, I'm looking forward to the new Vincent Kompany's Burnley returning to the Premier League and playing Brentford again.

I recall Tarks getting caught out while trying to pass out from the back as well. However, thinking a little about it, isn't this what happens with most centre halves when their team chooses to play out from the back. Wasn't it Arsenal who gave Chris Wood his goal "off his hip" from such a mis-timed and mis-directed defenders pass?

Brentford had the third highest number of long balls in the league last year, behind us and Watford. The playing out from the back thing is something of a myth with them.

Should have read proned to giving the ball away by lack of concentration when in possession.

No Idea what there stats are but against us they played out from the back and were dreadful at the Turf defensively

Been an absolute Star for us, both on and off the pitch.
Played his way into The Clarets Legend class a while back, for me. And don't think I'm alone there. ;)
Best Wishes, Ben.

That probably prompted them to change it up. They had that big lummox Pontus Jansson playing at the back and he's what you'd politely describe as industrial.

We’ve had a few players over many years that will be remembered as “true clarets” and Ben for me will always fall into that category. He may not have been the quickest but you would never get any less than 100% out of him, a brave footballer for sure and I wish him nothing but the best in his new adventure.

Completed 71% of his passes last season and wasn't dispossessed once.

Tarks was 69% and dispossessed a few times.

And it may just be that Brentford have a better midfield in front of him than he had at Burnley, so there will not be the same volume of panic and pass back to the defenders as soon as they are pressed

Best of luck Ben at your new club, 11 years is decent service in anyone's book.

So that's Collins (Wolves) Mee (Brentford) Pope(Newcastle) Tarks (Everton) all gone to PL clubs now, clearly this shows our defence wasn't the source of our relegation woes.
