Benson at Bristol City for me, he has no right to score that one and the technique is brilliant

Probably the toughest goal of the season vote we’ve ever had. I went for Zaroury at Sunderland, a thing of beauty!

Amazing to think that it's tough to choose the twenty best goals

We're definitely not accustomed to that.
Has anybody put together a compilation of the twenty yet, to make life easier for us?

Really tough decision but went for Zaroury at Sunderland. Could have literally gone for any of them though.

I decided on one of those two goals and eventually went for Benson at Bristol City - not much in them though and then there were so many other goals to consider.

I was looking for that one too, incredible team goal.
Went for Zaroury at Sunderland but I'd be shocked if Benson's title winner at Ewood doesn't win this

Can only be Barnes putting the keeper in the barstewards net

It was shaping up to be one of the most difficult goal of the season competitions ever. Then Benson scored a beauty to win the league at Ewood and it became a non-contest.

Not the best goal but in terms of iconic moments, it’s right up there in my 30 years supporting the Clarets. Jack Cork said in one of his interviews that was his best moment of the season.

Has to be Benny at Ewood.
He commits the defender immediately when he gets the ball and has him back peddling the entire way to the box, cuts inside at the precise moment to unleash that ridiculous left foot of his and then executes it with the dip perfectly. It is a sublime goal, and whilst his goals at Bristol City away, Rotherham home and even Zaroury's away at Sunderland are all fantastic too - the moment this gave us gives it that extra push for me.

Well my favourite goal of the season isn't even on the list!
Connor Roberts v Huddersfield at home.
24 pass move culminating in a side foot into an empty net, pure poetry and everything we are about as a team.

Zaroury vs Reading not on the list! One of my favourites this year - the run from Benson and outside of the boot cross is absolutely world class. Can't go wrong with a 90th min winner either

For me Benson's goal v Bristol City away was almost impossible with a number of defenders in front of him and the ball was quite away from his body.He really had to wrap his left foot round it. It reminded me of a fabulous golf shot when the golf ball is in a very difficult place, you cant see the green but you get the ball right next to the pin or sink it

Explained above - but to get it down to 20, the ones that we thought wouldn't get many votes were excluded.

Incredible list. Was it against Millwall when we scored the goal where every player had a touch (or several) in the build up?

Yep. I tried to ignore the context of the goal when making a decision. There’s no doubt some of the goals on this list will be celebrated for years to come and be replayed many times, that doesn’t necessarily make them the best. The first Barnes goal against Rovers probably isn’t as good as some that didn’t make the list (although I’m not arguing against it being there).

My top 3 would have been
Benson v rover's important winner to win goal then it was a toss up between Zaroury at Sunderland great second half come back and third was JBG free kick at QPR absolutely a stunner.

What a strange comment to make. Best goal is one of the most subjective things I've ever heard so people are obviously going to choose their own favorite. What else were you expecting????

It’s not strange though. Benson has scored better goals than the one at Ewood. As a goal it wouldn’t be in my top five but it’s where it was scored and who against that’s getting the votes I think more than it being the title clincher.

There may be subjectivity. But there is a clear difference between favourite and best. We have an entire thread devoted to favourite all time Burnley XI, not who you consider the best. I wasn't necessarily expecting anything different, just commenting on an observation. Seems pretty clear really

I honestly have no idea what you mean? You're saying that because you don't consider it the best goal he's scored that other people are wrong to say it is?
News flash, everyone who votes for this is going to pick what they consider the "best goal" to be. Its nothing to do with "favorites", if someone thinks Bensons goal at Ewood is the best of the season then maybe they factored in where we played, the time of the season, the pressure on us etc.
Some people factor in distance, speed, accuracy etc. But no one is "wrong" to choose any kind of goal.

The point of these things is that people can have an opinion whether you think it’s correct or not.
I’m sure players score better goals in training most weeks than we see on a match day and as such I think you should factor in pressure and significance when it comes to goals scored.
I think it’s fair to say there was less pressure playing Bristol City when you are already champions than when you are planting one in the Darwen End to win the league. This is why I voted for the Ewood goal because the circumstances and pressure aligned perfectly to a thing of absolute beauty.

Read my response to Tony above.
Best is massively subjective, just because you don't agree with someone else's choice doesn't mean they are "wrong".

But the ‘best’ goal shouldn’t be ‘in light of those things’. That makes it about the moment not the goal.

Exactly.
Its the "goal of the season"... not "which goal showed the best technical ability by one player or proved an example of excellent team work of the season"
One goal, of this amazing season had me screaming until hoarse... then giggling like a 5 year old girl.
One amazing goal, that won a game we came close to losing, that won a game against our rivals, that clinched the title at the home ground of our rivals.

You missed off How ( it was scored) and that added to your list makes it 100% goal of the season.
