Re: Brownhill Contract
Really hope we keep him personally, appreciate I am in the minority on here. He's not good enough for this league but is excellent in the Championship and we need a modicum of experience in that team considering most of our other 'Dyche-era' players will be leaving the building this summer. A midfield three of Berge, Cullen and Brownhill would be too much for any team at that level I think.

Mostly agree. He's a decent championship player and we'll need that experience next season.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:59 pmReally hope we keep him personally, appreciate I am in the minority on here. Yes, because communication is the strong point of our club and they regularly keep us updated on information regarding players.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:59 pmI guess so, but you'd think the club would announce it, wouldn't you?

I know that info regarding injuries has become more secretive in recent seasons, but you'd think the club would want the fans to know something like this.

A good Championship player. We’ll need him.

He was awesome last year
He gets that extra yard he needs ... If he had that extra yard in the PL ... he would be at a top 6 side for me

Re: Brownhill Contract
He seems a good sort does Josh, he's not daft he'll know his limitations and will probably look forward to and enjoy another season in the Championship. If we go up, well let's worry about that in due course.

I suspect a win win here. If we can recruit a cheaper wage earner we can now sell for a fee unlike having our keks pulled down with tarky and mee who left on frees. If we don’t recruit we can keep him, hopefully not as captain though.

But effort, fitness and his quality of goals from open play gives him a lot of the attributes you need for me.

He certainly is good enough for the championship, but if we are to continue buying young players for the prem, they could do with having a season in the championship first.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:59 pmReally hope we keep him personally, appreciate I am in the minority on here. Mould the midfield for back in the prem next season.

Joint top scorer for Burnley in the EPL this season.
Re: Brownhill Contract
'WE' may never know but I will.
Re: Brownhill Contract
This is great news. A central midfield of Cullen, Brownhill and Massengo is more than good enough to take us back up. Assuming Berge won't stick around (I'd love him to but we'd get good money for him.)

His passing range and general control of the ball aren't really good enough for any PL team, let alone a top six team. The Shire Claret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:26 pmWell... we will never know, because he doesn't have that extra yard of pace does he

You'd expect so but the communication is so awful now that nothing would surprise me. Wouldn't fully shock me if there was a new manager in place one week and the club hadn't even announced VK leavingfidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:05 pmI know that info regarding injuries has become more secretive in recent seasons, but you'd think the club would want the fans to know something like this.

Obviously always going to trigger extension and likely get sold in the summer .:: hopefully get around 7 million for him
Re: Brownhill Contract
100% agree. I’d have him in the team at the minute too (along with Berge and Cullen).jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:59 pmReally hope we keep him personally, appreciate I am in the minority on here. Re: Brownhill Contract
unless they've extended with the knowledge of getting a fee for him in the summer, a number of clubs are being linked with himfidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:05 pmI know that info regarding injuries has become more secretive in recent seasons, but you'd think the club would want the fans to know something like this.

Imagine April 18th
We are delighted to keep Josh bla bla bla
A few weeks later
We've sold Josh
I slightly understand IF the above scenario is known. If it's not then I agree it's strange

CT has linked you to where the info is, his post isn't insulting at all- he's quite right, most people assumed Brownhill would still be here at the end of the year due to the option we have on him (unless he's sold).
Can I ask why you felt it was necessary to respond like you have? Is that appropriate?
Re: Brownhill Contract
If we keep Cullen and Berge, that’s plenty experience in the middle of the park. If we can get a fee for Brownhill and put it towards a player that has better potential for the Premier League, that would be my preference - certainly rather that than keep him for a season and get nothing.

The + sign next to the completion of Brownhill's contract is the same as the one next to JBG and BPF's names, so presumably they have had contracts extended too?
I suspect that no one knows, just as, judging from the comments on here, no one knew about Brownhill's contract extension being triggered. This included the guy from the press who was corrected by Kompany during the press conference, so, no, most of us DIDN'T know.
Well done on your vigorous defence of CT though. I'm sure he appreciates it.

I don't care who is right or wrong or who the poster is- abuse towards other posters is just not acceptable.
But yes very few people seem to think Brownhill will be allowed to go for nothing when we have an option on him. He still represents an asset for the club.

VK never said they've extended Brownhill's contract, he just said he isn't out of contract which is true as we have an option to extend.

Re: Brownhill Contract
You've set a very low bar on what constitutes abuse, but my main point was that the club should or could have announced that Brownhill's contract clause had been triggered.boyyanno wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:13 pmI think you're misunderstanding the point.

I don't think anyone really knew that it had, and that was all I was saying before people started arguing about semantics.

He scores and creates more than many of our so called more attacking star names, there is no substitute for Premier League nous.

Didn't Brizzle release him??
Caveat : I really want him to do well here. Really liked a lot of his socials last year, seems a good lad, bought into the town, hopefully get a crack at it next season.
