Fill in the gap for what sounds most natural to you

Will always be Jimmy Mullen's Claret and Blue Army for me.

4 syllables for the name and you've generally cracked it with that chant. Mullen's is still king of the hill, as his name is what it says on the tin. Scott has to be lengthened to 'Scotty' and so points deducted for that, although it does sound good in the chant.

The only names that scan perfectly (three syllables; stress on the first and third) are Alan Brown*, Harry Potts, and then a remarkable run of four consecutive managers in Owen Coyle, Brian Laws, Stuart Gray*, and Eddie Howe.

*before my time - never heard of him until today, tbh
**caretaker for four games only

There is an argument that the correct rhythm should be four syllables; stress on the first and third, which would give us a few more options - Harry Bradshaw, Ernest Mangnall, Albert Pickles, Billy Dougall, Brian Miller, Martin Buchan, Jimmy Mullen, Terry Pashley* and possibly even Owen Coyle again if you pronounce it “Coy-ull”, but I prefer a half beat (I stand to be corrected by any musicians here) gap before “..claret and blue army”, personally.

* caretaker for three games only

(yes, I am a bit bored today)

Wembley Burnley v Stockport 1994 rocked to the 35,000 + Clarets chanting

"Jimmy Mullens .... Claret and Blue army"

Today it has to be

"Scotty Parkers .... Claret and Blue Army"

For Greenmile and anyone else who hasn’t heard of him.

Alan Brown was captain of our promotion and FA Cup Final team in 1947 and one of the most influential of managers we’ve ever had. He was behind the setting up of Gawthorpe in the mid-50s as we set up his dream of bringing young players through.

He was a mentor for Brian Clough who in turn was a mentor for Sean Dyche who was behind the new training ground.

Hugely important figure in the history of Burnley Football Club.

I joined in with that chant for a while whilst surrounded by Derby fans, a few of them even joined in with me. I never felt in any danger by doing so... Mind you, the three lads who I'd gone to the game with ran a Groundworks and Demolition business in the city and were locally well known and BIG. :D

I loved that game.
But not as much as York away.

I have absolutely no memory of the Orient game, not a clue why. Sherpa Van the following year was ridiculous, 84,000 people I think. 3rd division team vs 4th division team. madness.

Whilst you are, of course, right that there was a run of 8 managers with 3 syllables, there’s more than that to fitting a name perfectly to a chant.

Waddle, Ternent, Davis and Cotterill all have the stress on the first syllable of their surnames (or second syllable of their full names) and, as such, don’t scan quite as well. To be more precise, the names don’t sound quite right when put to the chant Chris waDULL*, Stan terNENT, Steve dayVIS, Steve cot-RILL aren’t how you pronounce their names when not singing. BRI-un LAWS STEW-ert GRAY, O-wen COYLE and Ed-dee HOWE all work slightly better.

*Sid Waddell would work though, but I think the closest he came to football management was writing Jossy’s Giants (there’s one for the teenagers :) )

Having said all that, the correct answer to the OP is still, as quite a few people have said, the four-syllabled Jimmy Mullen.
