Bart Verbruggen
Now valued at £60m. Didn't we nearly sign him?

Yes, Dyche's parting words to Mr Pace was "if you sell Popey in the summer go after that Vertbruggen chappy from from Anderlecht"

Re: Bart Verbruggen
If Verbruggen is worth £60m that’s at least what we must demand for Trafford (notwithstanding City buy back clause). Personally think Trafford is better.

Re: Bart Verbruggen
Brighton will make sure they get good money for him
Our owners appear intent on making sure they get good money for our players, so if Trafford goes, I'd expect us to get very good money for him

Interesting that of the four players who have made the most errors leading to goals in the Premier League this season, two used to play for us and one nearly did

I personally don't rate him either.Brighon lost a decent keeper and would grab £60m if the Bluffer is prepared to spend on a keeper he wanted at Burnley. Traff the Clean Sheet king has to be worth North of the £40m being mention especially as we have a percentage due to City.

Re: Bart Verbruggen
We didn't come close to signing him from what I was told but we wanted to sign him. Brighton were able to offer much more than us. I thought they handled him well last season, much better than we handled Trafford, in that they would give him games and then take him out of the side. I haven't seen enough of him to know how good he is.
Re: Bart Verbruggen
They produced the Bart Simpson video ready for his signing, which was then used for Muric. That was the season before he went to Brighton. We tried both summers.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 8:39 amWe didn't come close to signing him from what I was told but we wanted to sign him. Brighton were able to offer much more than us. Re: Bart Verbruggen
Valued at £60m by who ?
Brighton ?
Is it like Southampton valueing their young lad this week at £100m.
Not seen enough of him this season to know how good he is. Looks a good shot stopper but made a few big mistakes - but Brighton play risky football so may be unavoidable
In his first season he was alternated with Steele wasn’t he ? Steele had been a reserve keeper for a while and seem very little first team football in the Premier league so I guess this was not a planned strategy and more that Vebruggen was not as ready as they thought he would be when they signed him.
But Brighton are very good at getting a lot of money for their players so who knows ?!!

Re: Bart Verbruggen
I haven’t seen much of him this season, but I thought he wasn’t very convincing last year.
Re: Bart Verbruggen
Everytime I watch Brighton play he seems to make a mistake. At least he can pass out from the back which is very important
Re: Bart Verbruggen
I agree, having seen Verbruggen. Still contains errors.

Bart Simpson wasn't in the video but the video was from a Simpsons episode
