From the Bee Hole End LIVE Stream - Thursday

The Pod Squad are going live on Thursday evening with a special eve-of-the-season special. We're going to be giving some thoughts on the upcoming campaign, maybe even a couple of bold predictions and answering questions submitted by people in advance/on the night.

I think the plan is to start at 8pm over on the YouTube channel and it'll last about 45 minutes. We'll be monitoring the chat on YT for questions on the night but also feel free to post them in this thread and we'll answer as many as we can.

The broadcast will then be available as a podcast on Friday for those who don't want to look at five middle aged blokes on webcams!

Just watched this morning that brought news of the live edition. I’m struggling for Thursday but will pick it up on Friday if I miss it.

If it is a live special we need Woody to don that VR headset and give us live commentary of him watching a back to front game

(listen to today’s POD if that doesn’t make sense)

That was brilliant. His comment about avatars disappearing, making him think we were through on goal, only for the ball to be blocked by an invisible force had me laughing out loud

Q Should we stop spending now and go with what we've got? ( one eye on the debt accrual)

What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?

Would you rather fight alongside a giraffe the size of a chicken or a chicken the size of a giraffe?

Do you think we will see Tresor play for Burnley again?

Who do you think will be the best equipped to stay up from the 3 promoted clubs? I keep seeing neutral media personalities really waxing lyrical about Sunderland’s business and I just don’t get it!

I'd like the panel to each offer their predicted your starting 11 for Tottenham. After what appears to be our best window for a long while, I'm just more than a little concerned that our team might be a little lightweight given the injuries and lack of pre season for some of our new recruits.

If you were going to add 1 player to your fantasy football team from Burnley's current squad, who would it be and why?

Why haven’t the club made any statement thanking Brownhill for his time with us?

Lyle Foster: have too many fans given up on his potential now that he’s been with the club two and a half seasons, each of which has been marred with setbacks? What role does he have to play in the current setup? I think he may be being a tad overlooked.

John (tuning in from Porto)

Question

Who is the right sided centre half to replace CJ? Who is the Brownhill replacement? (midfielder to add goals)

Q Given that pretty much every pundit has us down for relegation and finishing below Sunderland do you think that our team (with the best in English football history defensive achievements of last season and improved with a chap with 96 England caps and a quality left back amongst others, notwithstanding the change in goal with experience over promise) has been given enough respect? How easy do you feel it will be for premier league teams to score more than one goal against the Burnley wall and do you agree that we should, therefore, be competitive in most games?

1. Based on the list as it stands, who stays and who goes?

2. How many gaps still need filling by the end of the window?

3. Which players are in 'your' starting XI in the early part of the season?

It’s only on for 45 minutes. Be lucky to get through the keepers.

That all depends on whether or not we get a Woody rant, I thought we'd be safe for a while but the VR headset issues, seemed to warm himself nicely into the new campaign.

Question - mrs booked a holiday that clashes with the first two games that flies out tomorrow, can the boys recommend one song each to add on to a playlist on the plane.

Bonus points if they can recommend a bar showing the Spurs game in Pethkos

Not obliged, but done it with every other player we’ve had so just a bit odd must be some reason why

I'm not sure why they would, given that he turned down a new contract and another chance to play in the PL.

The fact he hasn't found a new club yet only adds insult to injury.

So you are saying Pace is being petulant and holding a grudge after Brownhill has been the most amazing player for us?

Not really. I just don't see why he should be singled out for praise, any more than Trafford or Egan-Riley were.

Maybe they did when they reported they'd joined new clubs, so they'll do the same when Brownhill finally finds one.

Tbh, these platitudes rather pass me by.

You are tight it could be that we are paying him the ultimate respect by not saying anything until he announces where’s he’s headed. 👍

Enjoyed that. Thanks lads. Used to play cricket with Simon Evans as a kid for Nelson. He used to almost run in from the boundary when bowling.

Never saw Simon play but his dad used to come in off a really long run

Missed the first few minutes but it was a really good watch and fantastic that Greavesy ended with Willie Irvine, and yes Greavesy, what a difference a goalscorer like that would make.

Really enjoyed this once again.

Can't disagree with much that has been said. Not sure what is going to happen this season but the whole thing might depend upon a nigh on 24 year old whose has no scoring pedigree to speak of....!

But hope spring eternal and hopefully we can get through the first batch of games with some positive performances and a couple of points on the board.

For anyone who didn't see last night and wants to catch-up on the show - an audio version is out on the usual pod platforms and there is an edited version with improved audio and video on our You Tube page at the link below. It's basically a season preview.

He was a decent footballer back in the day as well. Mop and Bucket for Higham Boys. They don’t make partnerships like that anymore…

Good podcast chaps, enjoyed it as usual. Oh and I took my daughter to Frederick’s ice cream place today, drove from Earby to get there. Well worth it. 😉 best ice cream I have had. UTC.

For the first time ever on the podcast I'm going to have a bit of a go. I found Bentley's comments very dismissive on our chances of survival. No account taken with regards to our current manager or our signings pre season, which fwiw I think our business has been solid.

Was he similarly dismissive, let's say, of when we got to Europe? Or when we survived multiple times when if you looked at it in the cold light of day we probably were the pundits and bookies favourites to to be relegated

Really poor analysis imo !

Thanks for discussing my question in some depth. I can understand the desire to get another striker in. Especially as most of us are unconvinced about Foster despite his good start to the last PL campaign.
