In those last 11 seasons, Stoke, Watford, Palace, Villa and Hull have gotten to the final.
But sure, let's just all sit around talking about Orient 1987 and going on about the league as though we can only do one at a time.
Sorry but you have to laugh

It’s the Burnley way; we’re not happy unless we’re unhappy.bobinho wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 10:04 amYou’ve seen the size and depth of our first team squad.... think you could probably answer this yourself.
If he goes all out with a cup run and Wood ends up with cruciate ligament damage, Pope knacks his shoulder and Westwood snaps a hamstring, Dyche is absolutely annihilated on here by the very people who are whinging about not prioritising a cup.
Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

Even more strange when the people who seem desperate for a cup run don’t go on cup games, obviously waiting for a semi final so they could appear. Had it been man utd we played yesterday the attendance would have been more than double what it was. A few seasons in the top division and some have a stench of arrogance that we should be be winning cups or getting to finals. They then usually point out the odd season where a team like Wigan won it as some weird reasoning.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 1:06 amThere were people preferring an FA cup and relegation to survival but there were also people preferring a win today compared to a win vs Arsenal.
It's not just about physical fatigue, but form and mentality too. Its very hard, as we proved with the Europa league to pull the strings together for both league and cup.
We could finish a couple of places higher in the league and get more money than winning the FA cup or a single place for being runners up.
When we are fighting the way we are against teams of limitless cash every little counts...which is why most teams bar the top few without worrying about cash don't give a crap about the cup.

The fact that we cannot rest some key players and field a strong enough team to beat Norwich is hardly a laughing matter. Yesterday's insipid and limp display just highlighted how threadbare our current squad is and how far off the pace players like Brady and Vydra really are.

This team would lose against Coyle’s team in a cup competition, simply because we now never bother to turn up for cup games.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 10:24 pmThis is a different level of team to that one now. Also, the game has moved on in the last 10 years. Apart from that you have a point....
I’d love to see this team against the Coyle cup team. No comparison tbh

We put a team out clearly to beat them but they didn't perform. Definitely not good enough as it would haven't as been in the league but it's clear why. The club ethos spreads from top to bottom and it's clear cup competitions are bottom priority and rightly so.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:58 amThe fact that we cannot rest some key players and field a strong enough team to beat Norwich is hardly a laughing matter. In the past where our recruitment gave us a chance in the league, when other teams weren't backed by billionaires and where football wasn't all about money the cup was a great competition but no longer the case.
