Tough one that but if it was at home I would definitely have seen it and if it was away more than likely at that time.

Too easy that one.

How's about this?

"With the two big men from defence up there, Waldron and Thomson. Dave Thomas trying to get it over and, it's Dobson with the third goal"

Could that be away at M'boro in 1972?. 1-0 up, then 3-1 down but fought back to draw 3-3.
Edit: Just realised Thomas had gone by then so not possible

How about Villa at home 1972, won 4-1 early season. Andy Lochhead playing for Villa.

Don't know if l it's right, but I was on Ayresome Park that day. Great comeback, but the neanderthal locals were the **** of the earth. Hated Boro for a long time after that.

Perhaps the FA Cup defeat at home to Wimbledon in Jan '75 ?

Struggling with this one. Away at Coventry in 1975. Won 3-0 and could have gone top in March that day had Arsenal beaten Everton.

What an amazing coincidence - I have just posted about that game on another thread - literally. I was there at that one. It was my first ever away game watching the Clarets.

Was it Everton home, '74 (or '75) when we were a goal down well into the second half (Latchford) and then we scored 3 times in 3 minutes to win 3-1? (Amazing scenes as thousands of previously singing and dancing Evertonians suddenly left the ground en mass!)

Mate of mine went. Missed the first goal because he was late then decided to get a 'flier' when we were 3-1 down with just a few minutes left. Astounded when he heard the full time score on his car radio.

We stayed till the end, if it had finished 3-1 it probably wouldn't have kicked off the way it did. It was worth it the smoggy b@$^%$@ds. :D

I'll try Old Trafford away in The League Cup about '73 (ish). We were 2-0 up in the second half and managed to lose 3-2. Seems keeping 2 goal leads at OT has always been an issue for us!!

This really is a tough one, but there were a couple of games in March '75 in which Ray scored. A 3-3 draw against Arsenal and then the following week a disappointing 2-5 home defeat against Derby.

Surely has to be one of those games.

In the following season '75/'76 Keith Newton, Jim Thomson & Flynny played in virtually all of the games but Leighton James left us for Derby early in Nov'75.

Prior to James leaving Ray Hankin scored in two of the games, away at Coventry and home against Wolves. We lost both games. Is it one of those?

Your logic is slightly out. It was Coventry away BUT we won 2-1

I did say the last one would be my last, here's my last, last! Back to "EASY"

"Gnohéré moving forward from centre back, touch by Moore, is there any chance for Gnohéré? Ohhhhhh... it's a goal! Arthur Gnohéré with a brace and Burnley three..."

That has to be the terrific day out at Deepdale. Must be almost 20 years ago.

We've had some great days at Preston over the years, none more so than the promotion party in '73 and the Northern Final second leg of the Sherpa Van there in '88.

This was in the days before internet, mobile phones etc. Didn't know result until MOD. Was at my then girlfriends house, watching. When the equaliser went in, I jumped up and landed back on the sofa and broke it. Much to the dismay of her mum  . Needless to say, the romance didn't last much longer ;)
What ever happened to Linda Thomson ?????

Four cracking goals from us with 'Chico' Hamilton scoring theirs. Highlights the following day on Granada with either Gerald Sinstadt on commentary or even possibly Martin Tyler ...... but it wasn't live!

And you opened the scoring, Doug. 3mins could have gone on the early goals thread. Surprised you had time to listen to the Longside.
