ARTICLE: Forest felled and flattened by fantastic Clarets

Post by ClaretTony » Sat Apr 04, 2020 10:36 am

It's Saturday, no football aain, so looking back at a game from six years ago.

This one is the home game against Forest that kick started an important three game run against two of the challengers followed by a trip to Ewood. I don't think any of us there that day will forget this performance in a hurry.

Fantastic display from the Clarets!

best half of a game for many a year...only 1st half away at Brentford has come close!

The only disappointment with Forest game was the quality of the 3 goals didn’t reflect the teams brilliant performance!

The Brentford game was the last one we played before the birth of Up the Clarets - another incredible first half performance that's already been earmarked for this Saturday feature.

That Forest performance was something else at the time. It just blew us all away.

also all the more impressive against a Forest team that were on a 14 match unbeaten sequence...that came to a very abrupt end against a very good Burnley performance!

Incredibly, this result triggered a run for Forest which saw them win only 4 points from 11 games. Only another 10 points all season and they finished 11th.

It really was an outstanding performance from us. Another quiet game for David Jones, though. :D :D

The piece of skill from Tripps for the second goal is amongst the best i've seen from us live.

Remember thinking at half time that we were too good for this league.
I didn’t want to say it out loud though.

There really was some excellent performances that season. That first half was possibly the best.

I'll never forget that day. We had a new sofa delivered and I'd booked a morning delivery slot to make sure I could get to the game. The sofa arrived on time but the delivery men forgot to drop off the bolts and brackets that join it all together. We had a baby and no other furniture so the Mrs put her foot down and insisted that I had to sort it out. After much persistence I managed to convince DFS to come back, but they didn't arrive until the game had kicked off and I missed the whole thing. My dad rang me afterwards and literally couldn't find the words to explain how well we'd played, which just added insult to injury. I've had many disappointing days as a claret but that's right up there!
