Both fantastic that day but Clarke for me. If he hadn't had his problems I think he could have been a Premier League player.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 10:28 amI always thought it was a toss up between Carlisle or Caldwell for MOM but watching it back, every block and headed clearance, it was Carlisle everytime, immense performance.

Had to laugh when Ward trudged off, claiming the ball was controlled by his shoulder.
It was nearer to his elbow.

It was nearer to his elbow.

I was in the pub by 7pm! Quite a few spotted my colours and congratulated us.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 9:26 amI know people who were still on the Wembley car park when we were back in Lancashire - we drove to the game but didn't take the car anywhere near Wembley. Don't know how they cope now with so much of the car parking space having disappeared.

I think the Bournemouth players must have been watching that recently.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 12:05 pmHad to laugh when Ward trudged off, claiming the ball was controlled by his shoulder.![]()

Re: Wembley - 11th anniversary
Didn’t watch this yesterday as the weather was too glorious and I’d seen sky’s replay of the game a few weeks ago.
What a horrible and anxious day that was. Definitely the most nerve-wracking 90+ minutes I’ve had to sit through. Not helped by wearing a pair of dark jeans which were practically melting onto my legs.
Carlisle was fabulous in all of the play off games and during our final run-in in the league if I remember rightly. Culminating in three consecutive clean sheets.
A very anxious time for me as I had to give my final presentation for my architecture masters the following morning so it was straight back home for me and an early night. I remember returning from my presentation and watching the entire game again in a more relaxed mood.

Re: Wembley - 11th anniversary
It's weird but I felt fine on the day, the team and even our fans seemed so unusually confident. I remember the Beast waving and grinning before kick off and everyone bouncing beach balls around our end, we just seemed to assume we'd win.
Only when we got to the last five and I thought, 's**t, we really might do this' did the nerves kick in.
Re: Wembley - 11th anniversary
I think a lot of fans (especially me) had been to nervous in the last few weeks of the season and actually making the play offs, nervous energy ran out. We’d been close before on 2 occasions (actually closer to the play off win than we are from it now) pretty recently and failed, plus the cup sf vs Spurs. We were a few mins away from Wembley that’s what most of us wanted. We got to Wembley and the game didn’t matter, or what was at stake. We were there. The 2nd leg vs Reading I was getting more and more nervous. I expected them to get 1 in the second so told myself, right it’s 1-1 what can we do. The final I was as far from nervous as I could possibly have got. The downside to it is that promotion didn’t sink in for weeks. I was that relaxed it just didn’t register.
