Re: Hendrick set to leave
Look wait and see where he go's and what happens to him after that .
Just to make this clear he is no longer a Burnley player so i find it confusing why people on here seem to get upset when i say that he is not the player they think he is or was .
I only wish he could change countries as i would say 85% of fans think he is Crap in a crap team here in Ireland .

He was on that much here so that doesn't make much sense.
Shelvey is on £70-80k a week, so I'd expect Hendrick to be on closer to 60k

If at all true. I doubt we'd have offered him a 4 year contract though. Two year at most with an option for a 1 year extension I'd have thought.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 10:25 amHe was on that much here so that doesn't make much sense.

One example, although weirdly his age is wrong.
Defour 27.
Re: Hendrick set to leave
Oh that link needs to be put on a Toon forum. Imagine the meltdown if they thought they were offering a 36 year old a four year contract on £60,000 a week

Re: Hendrick set to leave
Regardless of whether he will be getting paid more, you would expect a free agent like Hendrick to command a pretty hefty signing-on fee which would make a move worthwhile.

Are signing-on fees quoted in the media when a free agent signs? Referring, of course, to those clubs that disclose transfer fees, not those like Burnley where fee has always been "undisclosed."
I'd assume Jeff Hendrick's signing-on fee, just like his wage, to be determined by the competition for his signature and his negotiating position, assisted by his agent, with the club he is joining.

Using that logic Ben Gibson could easily now have been Burnley captain IF Ben Mee had picked up either a long term injury or a series of minor ones.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 12:11 pmOk Tony answer me this would Hendrick have played 24 times if gudmundsson or Brady were fit?

Re: Hendrick set to leave
I doubt very much that signing on fees are reported in the media. To be fair, neither are salaries but word gets around. The point I’m making is that even if Hendrick moves to a club paying him the same salary he will no doubt be earning a very generous signing on fee.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 7:03 pmAre signing-on fees quoted in the media when a free agent signs? Re: Hendrick set to leave
I'm sure he will have really have improved his lot going to Newcastle, much bigger club, loads of money so bound to be on much more, plus signing on fees, plus bonuses, longer contract, guaranteed starting 11. So I can see how it would be a great move for him and he will have CL games within the next two years.

Hi Rileybobs, if there's no competition to sign Jeff Hendrick, then I don't expect he will be offered/paid a signing-on fee.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 9:03 pmI doubt very much that signing on fees are reported in the media. Take a look at what The Times is reporting, today, re Spurs signing Joe Hart. I've underlined the bit about possible wage it's suggested that Spurs have offered.
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete a shock move for Joe Hart as they look to recruit a homegrown reserve goalkeeper.
Hart, 33, has 75 England caps and is available on a free transfer after leaving Burnley. The former Manchester City goalkeeper is set to sign a two-year contract with the option of a third and is expected to undergo a medical today.
Hart was earning £50,000 a week at Turf Moor, which is more than Tottenham were willing to pay him. It is thought Spurs have offered around £35,000 per week. Chelsea had also considered a move for Hart.
Tottenham have too many players who do not count as homegrown, which restricts the size of the squad they can name.

Wonder how much more Hendrick will get from Newcastle over our offer?
Spurs must be desperate if their after Hart , failed at previous 3 clubs not enough for them it seems. If I was a spurs fan I’d be furious with how the last year has gone, potted one of the best managers around.

So hilarious you have to wonder if it’s a Sunderland-supporting contributor!!

If it’s not done by weekend I can only imagine his agent is leaking all this stuff to drum up interest. Got to be announced tomorrow??

To be honest I’m wondering if Newcastle even want him now.
They have just announced Matty Longstaff is re signing. He may no longer be required.

Burnley were linked with him. Wonder if they pulled out and it scuppered Hendrick’s deal?

Side wards move, but least it goes to show those saying it was a move motivated by Money were correct.
It's always nice to see those ridiculed by the ITK people actually were bang on the money.
Thanks for your contribution, and good luck in your future Jeff

Re: Hendrick set to leave
Really highlights how light in midfield we are.
A team we have finished higher than in 4 out of the last 5 seasons has two more CMs that us currently.
Be interesting to see where in the pecking order he is?
Can’t see him getting ahead of any of there current 4 apart from maybe Hayden.
Longstaff x 2 and shelvey are all better CMs

Not really bothered where he goes or how much he earns. Good luck to the lad, but he wanted to leave Burnley: we will not miss him, it will be interesting to see how many games he starts for Newcastle, assuming he is going there.

Re: Hendrick set to leave
When Milan and Man Utd were mentioned it was obvious his agent was playing silly buggers. He wouldn't be 1st choice in any prem 1st team for the upcoming season including ours without injuries.
Did a good job for us , very mediocre player. Don't think we will see him in the premiership again barring injuries if he even lands a contract in prem. We should offer him a reduced deal to come back as we are probably only team that need him due to tiny squad. Id gladly have him in squad and I wouldn't write off that happening just yet.
Let's not paint him out as this legend of a player he wasn't though.

Your last point is spot on though, lets no paint him out as a legend of a player, much better to have bitched about him while he was here and continue to do so once he has left. It is amusing watching people moan about him moving on for a free and calling him for doing so, lets hope we don't sign anyone on a free and they same people start calling it great business.

Re: Hendrick set to leave
Yes completely agree.
the question you have got to ask yourself is would you be happy if we signed Hendrick this summer. The answer is no, because we know he is not good enough. in my opinion one of the worst signings under Dyche due to cost. Probably goes Gibson, Vydra (although he is starting to come good), Hendrick, Hart.

He did his best, he contributed a lot in his last couple of seasons, however but for injuries he probably wouldn't have been a starter.
He wanted 1 last pay day, our club didnt think he was worth that, another club did.
Fair play to him, good luck, and thanks for the contribution.

The Barclays Premier league or the Barclays Premiership. Have I missed something very obvious again?

Signed by Dyche for us and played his whole contract in the Premier League, signing for Newcastle who are also in the Premier League.
Tough one to work out, the view of Dyche & Bruce or a few fans with an agenda against a player as to who is right. On the plus side you will have a new player to moan about next season.

If you are basing it on his number of appearances then you probably should check the number he made here during the length of his contract.
Re: Hendrick set to leave
If you look at my original post I said we are probably the only prem club that needs him due to squad size but he has quickly been replaced by brownhill and with Gudmonson and Brady fit he might only get a few sub appearances. It's not an agenda it's just stating blindingly obvious facts.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:05 amIf you are basing it on his number of appearances then you probably should check the number he made here during the length of his contract.

Re: Hendrick set to leave
I think you're being a little bit harsh on Hendrick. Like it or not, it's highly unlikely you'll get a special player for 10 million these days, especially at Premier League level. I think he was great value considering the prices of players nowadays. He played over 120 Premier League games and was a part of our undoubted recent successes.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 8:48 amI’m just basing it on the fact he cost us close us 10 million to be nothing special.
