Much as I find Linekars social media baiting and virtue signalling preposterous I’ll give him his dues he’s walking the walk here .Hopefully all the other painfully aware luvvies will do the same. Not unlike Corbyn , I couldn’t stand the bloke or his views but he stuck to his beliefs and never sold out and that, in a world of ponces ,liars cheats and “never will be’s” always deserves grudging respect

Re: Gary Lineker
If Lineker gets dropped by the BBC, he'll just do extra work for BT Sport and others, so he'll not be short of job offers.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 3:07 pmI wonder what effect on GL's BBC career the new BBC head Tim Davie will have? He's made his first official pronouncement today and, along with saying some slimming down is necessary, says
“If you want to be an opinionated columnist or a partisan campaigner on social media then that is a valid choice, but you should not be working at the BBC,” he said in a speech to staff at the BBC’s office in Cardiff. Davie said that staff will have to adhere to new social media rules that will be “rigorously enforced”.
I've heard quite a few old BBC stagers say that this (keeping schtum about your personal politics/opinions) used to be the case anyway but clearly it hasnt been thus for many years.
It'll be interesting to see if the £1.75 million salary outweighs Gary's need to impress us all with his views on social media.

What can she do when the French are gladly ushering thrm out? Sink the boats? Or send for Lineker?Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:34 pmMaybe some of you should save your angst for Priti Patel, rather than Lineker. Sorry, Grumps, I hadn't realised you'd changed your attitude towards this issue. Your earlier comment seemed to be rather snarky and resentful of Lineker's mansion and action hence my confusion.
Still, caught a couple of whoppers with two of the board's biggest hypocrites liking your comment.

Not as much as some......I think the bloke's played a blinder.
I love how anything concerning Lineker sparks off a tug-fest amongst the nutters on here..
There'll be a shortage of tissues in the Burnley area tonight.

Let’s be fair eh, he’s in a position to help out more than most of us are, if he was so genuine he could do far more & donate 90% of his wealth & still be better off than most of us, people who are really genuine & help the needy out do it & it isn’t even publicised, people go to extraordinary measures to remain secretive.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 1:38 amHe's doing more to help than you are!.....They are people, just like you and me & they have dreams of a better future.

This type of thread is always entertaining !!
Brings out the true melts.
Easy to play Hypocrisy Bingo.
“He should keep sport and politics separate”
Errr he does - he didn’t mention Kevin De Bruyne’s fantastic right foot when talking about the refugee situation and as far as I was aware whilst hosting MoTD or BT he never goes off script in the middle of an action replay and start talking politics.
“Why does he not give more of his wealth away ?”
HOUSE - to be honest this comment is so pathetic it does not even warrant a response.

I can post more articles, since the referendum you've not been able to shut the bloke up about politics tweeting away & jabbering away about politics. Fronting up the face of MOTD you are meant to give the impression of being impartial some people involved in sport would actually go to great lengths to remain private, as opposed to good old Gary I think every man & his dog know exactly what Gary thinks as it's impossible to gag the bloke.

You inadvertently, apparently, came across as an idiot carping about Lineker's wealth, urging him to put his money where his mouth is and he did just that.
Your oh so cleverly disguised snarky comment merely exacerbated that but fair play to you if you too applaud Lineker's attitudes and actions, particularly this latest example.
I'm surprised but pleasantly so.

To be fair, thanks to the , imposed through fear of jail, television poll tax , AKA, the tv licence. Most people are "less fortunate " than the multi millionaire, Gary Lineker.
Given the large pool of "less fortunate" he has to choose from. You'd like to think he might have given the gig to a homeless squadie, who has put his life on the line for our country, who'll be huddled in a shop door way , again, tonight.......

Re: Gary Lineker
Indeed he has, martin.
If he was so fussed about our heroic squaddies "huddled" in Burnley's shop doorways tonight, you'd expect the Wrongun to be down there, offering comfort, food and conversation and, possibly, the offer of a bed at his gaff. A bit like Lineker, perhaps.
Not likely, considering his refusal to get involved with ending his lad's school's "institutionalised" sexism and racism towards white-working class boys.....

Jeez FFS, he's a public figure on television he's meant to be impartial regarding any sensitive issues, I'd expect Michael Gove or Keir starmer to be talking politics, I'd expect Delia Smith to be talking cooking, it's not seperate at all because it's ingrained in the person's personality, some people don't wish to hear about GLs political views & just want to listen to him speak about football, you cannot seperate somebody's personality & that's what people are buying into.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 6:26 pmBut how has he refused to keep them separate? He also has a life outside of his work.
It's quite easy to separate the two. It's quite easy to listen to him speak about football and avoid his political views.
It's almost as easy as constructing a coherent sentence so I can see why you struggle with it though.
