Barnes is a better finisher than Vydra.

That's true, as much as Vydra offers us another dimension to our play, he's not shown he can be ruthless in front of goal, if he can improve his finishing, he might force his way into the first XI, but until then he'll always be a sub at best, and if Ash is close to returning, maybe Matej thinks he needs to find regular footy, wherever that option is.

As it stands if all 4 stay, and remain injury free, the front line isn't a major concern, we've more pressing positions to plug, CB, CM, & RW to name three, although in dire need we could play Vydra wide, if we want to get him in the side.

Think this topic has been brought up before. We are lucky by design that we have 4 strikers who can all bag at this level and all have slightly different attributes

I am assuming if Vydra does leave on loan it is because we are signing Quaison who can play upfront and on either wing

Ah! well if we get this Quaison fella, then that's a different story, and if he can play upfront, as well as either wing, then he'll be a great capture, and in that scenario I can see us letting Vydra go.

The worry for me though is this would mean we've get Gibson who we forked out £15m on, and Vydra who cost £11m both out on loan, we need to hope that if that comes to fruition that both impress, as that's our best chance of recouping decent fees for the pair, and yes I'm aware of Norwich buying him permanently in the event of their promotion, so we need the Canaries to fly high, and bounce back at the 1st time of asking.

That's why I wonder whether a player swap would be an option. Maybe Vydra plus £3/4 million for Quaison? Vydra's style would suit the Bundesliga. He'd be closer to home (Czech Republic), be getting game time you'd assume ahead of the Euros and we'd get a player who could play in three or four different positions.
