Keith Weller (in his Leicester days) was the first British player I saw playing in tights- around 1975/6. Caused quite a stir at the time.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 7:46 pmThis has probably been asked before but it’s the first time I’ve seen it- are you allowed to wear tights like Maximin is???!

Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
That’s the best result for us, I say reluctantly. Newcastle are right in the mix (despite what some were convincing themselves a few weeks ago). We are also in a battle but are in a complete contrast in form and with 2 games in hand. I think we’ve got half a chance of making up the gap on Leeds by the end of the season too.

Closer in the end than it should have been, but unless we lose by 3 goals tomorrow then we stay 15th.
Shame Leeds didn't score a couple more.

I'm sure Newcastle were above us before the games tonight. Could be wrong though.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 7:53 pmYes but we were already above them, so we couldn't go up another place.

Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
3-2 now at Palace, but that late goal no use to the Eagles, another win for West Ham, they are having an incredible run under Moyes, and it just shows why fans and owners should give managers a real chance to implement their style on a club, instead of the revolving door strategy which many seem to employ.
A win for Leeds Newcastle are heading downhill quicker than a runaway train, and it doesn't appear that Bruce can do anything to prevent it, shame we don't play them in the near future, I'd fancy us to bag 3 points if we did.
Liverpool down to 5th as it stands, and most of the teams around them have games in hand.

Good results for us this evening, including the cup. We're more likely to mess up vs Crawley than Bournemouth.

Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
Maybe but their recent form is 2 points out of a possible 27, and not many PL managers survive slumps like that.
What would worry me as a Newcastle fan is they seem to have lost their fight, and in a relegation battle that is crucial for any team, once you lose that side of your game you're not going to get results, and their next few fixtures don't look easy to me, especially given the form they're in.

Duffers Cheltenham 2 up in last 5 mins. Seem to have been off it for a while but up to 4th and their game in hand can take them top.
Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
What I mean is Benitez is unlikely to make much difference.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:40 pmMaybe but their recent form is 2 points out of a possible 27, and not many PL managers survive slumps like that.

Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
Us no, Brighton or Newcastle possibly, but if any of the bottom 3 are going to get out of trouble they'll need to start stringing a couple of results together, and on the evidence thus far that's looks beyond all 3 of them.

Re: Tonight’s football 26-1-21
Perhaps not, but they'll have to make a change soon if results don't turn, whether it's Benitez or someone else, otherwise they're in severe danger of going down. As a Burnley fan I'm more than happy for Bruce to continue in post, and I strongly suspect fans of all the other teams down there will feel the same.
