Sky reporting that it was Ben Mee that laid the ball back for Dwight’s cross to Wood.
Poor Matty works his socks off and never gets any credit.
They are an excellent side that cost more in every position, except Grealish( home grown), than our lads but our battling heart is outstanding.

There's no way that vyds should have been allowed to get to Ben mee's ball for wood's goal.
He really wanted that and the 2 defenders better placed just didn't show the determination.
Excellent lads. Quietly moving up the table. Since match day 8 we are 5th in the Premier league ahead of spurs, Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea.....

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Only saw the second half so didn’t miss much
Gutty performance to come back twice, I don’t think de did that before in the PL.
I thought Lowton, Pope & McNeill stood out and Vydra played an important part.
Terrific header though from Woods, ball was behind him and quite a way from the goal.
Onwards & upwards

We'll still be last on MOTD
Words fail me, I'm stunned. That second half was just so out of the blue, because we were so bad first half.
Our half way stage of the season, and 22 pts. In a season where the bottom 2 don't look as if they will get 22 pts in the season, is a great position to be in. Plenty of catchable teams now within reach, especially dirty Leeds, so plenty to play for.

Would have topped the Palace game from a few years back with Barnes last minute winner

Pope and Grealish should be automatic starters for England.

If we're last on MOTD the editor wants sacking, Chelsea game was a tedious 0-0, and Brighton-Fulham is goalless approaching HT, admittedly Everton and United are still to KO, but I'll beColburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 8:07 pmWe'll still be last on MOTD![]()

That 2nd 45 could be a huge turning point in our season, we've not been doing badly, but a defeat tonight, and a Fulham victory and we'd have been anxiously looking over our shoulders again, instead we're very much looking upwards, and on that display we have every chance of climbing even higher in the table.
6 wins 3 draws 4 defeats in our last 13 games, plus progression to the 5th round of the cup, plenty to look forward to in the 2nd half of the season that's for sure.
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Glad Sean changed it at half time. Cork showed experience counts!!
Pope certainly in top 5 keepers in Europe. We are so lucky to have him.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
I'm just stunned. At half time I had to admit they were the best team by a mile and thought we were in for a tonking but that second half was fantastic. All of a sudden we can't stop scoring, Six in two games!!.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Thing is, although we improved second half, we had long periods where we were still struggling and we were lucky to get level. Then once it went to 2-1 down I really couldn't see any way back tbh. I'm absolutely stunned, but not as stunned as the Villa team and management I'd guess!!!
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Credit to Villa, who kept it open. They were the vest team, other than Man City, in the way they control and get to the bye line to cut us open. 2nd half, they stopped doing that and went like the rest.
Pope is definitely a superhero!

Just did not see it coming. I posted at half time saying SD needed to earn his corn at half time. He certainly did that-in fairness it would have made sense to hook off Wood, but fair does SD was shrewd and got all his subs right. Corky gives us that bit of creativity

Good thing our media team doesn't post crap like this.
Perhaps they forgot the challenge by Delph that put Dean Marney out for a season?
Or maybe like their first team, the media team was transferred in for big money after they won promotion back into the Premier League?

I turned it off when we went 1-2 down and fell asleep with my phone in my hand. I woke up to my phone buzzing with a message from my dad, "What a win".
I couldn't believe it.

What a good read this thread was, first 7-8 pages are priceless.
The best way to win a game when at the ground is when going behind and then scoring a late winner, while we can't go then the best way is to have a poor first and fall behind, get most the players slated, turn it round second half and enjoy the earlier comments.
Special note to the "get Wooden (not even slightly funny) off"
