Re: Vydra
I love what he offers. A completely different option to the rest of our strikers: genuine pace, movement, finds space well, and his hold up play and ball retention are outstanding for a smaller striker. Needs a goal, though. Snatching at chances at the moment. Requires a bit more composure, but his all-round game is excellent and he gets us playing better football.

Re: Vydra
Great footballer, great touch and vision.
Offers us so much more in the final 3rd, and deserved a goal today.
How he hasnt had a chance when you see when others go 3 and 4 games without contributing baffles me.

Re: Vydra
Movement that we very rarely get from our other strikers which makes us less one dimensional . Lowton was good today too

imagine having another player up top with the same movement, Brighton couldn't cope with Vydra up top on his own today

I'd stick with these two up top for the next 2 to 3 games.

Not a regular goalscorer at this level, need too many chances. Therein lies the problem.

Vydra is better than Wood. Thanks for the signing Garlick.. Dyche just Signs us lumps like Jutkiewicz, Wood and Barnes

Re: Vydra
Was a class above anything else we have in that area of the pitch today.
We have players who could learn a thing or two about holding the ball up and threading it through just by watching him today.
I’m not too worrried about him not actually getting a goal, we have two other strikers who get more than a good run at it without scoring.
We most certainly look more dangerous with him on the pitch... I think even SD will have noticed that. All we need to know is what “plan A” is....

When has Wood ever had a good a game as Vydra today, football wise?
Top performance, just needs that bit of luck now, but how good is it to see players linking up with each other?

And you base that on what? His cameo appearances? His 90 mins today without a goal? I’m genuinely interested in how you have worked out his goals to chances record in comparison to the other three...SkiptonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:16 pmNot a regular goalscorer at this level, need too many chances. Re: Vydra
I agree Vydra gives us more options and deserves to start right now ahead of Barnes and Jayrod
But his finishing is that of a championship striker. He takes too many touches. As an example when Cork passed to him on the edge of the six yard box he should have hit it first time. He gave the defender and the keeper enough time to close him down. Had he shot first time he would have either cleared the stand or scored. There were other examples
That’s why he is just good back up and not a regular starter

Re: Vydra
The trouble is that at this level chances have to be taken early, or clinically.
In the Championship, players have more time to shoot. That’s where the jury is out if Vyds is good enough.
But.....superb today

Re: Vydra
He’s a totally different player. If the question was when did Wood ever have as productive game as Vydra did today then you would only need to look as far back as his last game. In terms of who is easier on the eye then I think everyone knows that Vydra would take that accolade, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to goals and points.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:16 pmWhen has Wood ever had a good a game as Vydra today, football wise?
So on that basis you may as well have asked when has Tarks had as good a game ‘football wise’.
This threads about Vydra - who had a very good game. Instead of just praising the player, why do some people feel the need to criticise our other players in doing so?

Absolutely excellent today EXCEPT for getting that all important goal. I really felt for him, but his work rate is immense and with that amount of commitment he HAS to be a "Dyche type player". He definitely gives us something different.

There's no doubt we are miles better to watch with Vyds on the pitch. Also it's no coincidence we also create more chances with him in the team

Or when we aren't playing the better sides in this League such as Chelsea or City. Didn't notice this effectiveness last Wednesday. He was excellent today until he got within scoring range - which is the opposite of what you want a striker to do.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:31 pmThere's no doubt we are miles better to watch with Vyds on the pitch. Re: Vydra
I think there definitely is a doubt. We didn’t create many chances against Man City or Chelsea for example. I think the opposition plays a large part in how many chances we create and I think the attitude and freedom of the players was probably the single biggest factor in the number of chances we created today. That’s not to undermine the large part that Vydra played in our performance today.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:31 pmAlso it's no coincidence we also create more chances with him in the team

The manager’s tweak of shape at half time almost won us the game today and enabled Vydra, JBG and McNeil to get more heavily involved and influence the game.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:21 pmSays you who’s got his head so far up Dyches backside you even sound as deluded as him

We don't even try and attack man city and the Chelsea game was dire. We are better to watch with Vydra, his movement causes teams problems. Vydra gets into positions the others don't. The goals will come for him

Re: Vydra
Equally our other strikers get into positions that Vydra doesn’t. As was evidenced by 2 or 3 very good crosses in the first half which weren’t attacked.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:45 pmWe don't even try and attack man city and the Chelsea game was dire. We get it - you prefer Vydra - but to simplify it into a black and white issue is nonsensical. All of our strikers offer something a little different - and we’ve had more success with the other strikers than we have with Vydra. But right now he’s deserving of his shirt - it’s his opportunity to take.

But just being better on the eye doesn't win you points? Would you prefer lots of games like today which are nice to watch or a very unpleasant, ugly, hard working 1 nil win, er, let's say over Liverpool which gets you 3 points? I think I know which result is the better one. Re: Vydra
Biggest problem we had with Vydra today was he outpaced the Brighton defence, cut in behind them and had to try and find a pass back to the edge of the 18 yard box because we had no other striker bursting into the 6 yard box where they should be. Crying out for a quick striker to play alongside him
