So hard to mark because that first half was way way way below standard

Pope 6 - Very little to do. A dodgy kick or two but I think his distribution is getting better
Lowton 9 - Power, energy and a good final ball
Tarkowski 7 - solid & untroubled
Mee 7 - solid & untroubled
Pieters 7 - Much better second half. First was a 4.
Guðmundsson 8 - Again first half was a 4 but the way he adapted his game in the second half was fantastic.
Westwood 7 - Controlled the midfield in the second half. Kept the tempo up and also found himself interchanging on the right quite a bit
Cork 7 - Like Westwwod kept the ball moving forward and quickly
McNeil 7 - Much like JBG. First half he was shocking. You can't lose a ball and then sulk. Lose the ball and go and fight for it. Second half he changed his his starting position and it works wonders. Playing behind the strikers and floating out wide suits his game. He's much more effective at that
Barnes 6 - held the ball up OK on occasions but I think this is his last full season. He should be a bit part player next season.
Vydra 9 - SEAN. YOU SEE WHAT HE CAN DO WHEN YOU PLAY FOOTBALL ON THE FLOOR??? Only thing keeping him from being a 10 was a goal.

The change of style and tweak to the 4-4-2 was the difference. We looked much more dangerous from 45 to 80 minutes. However, you could see us falling off yet the manager doesn't change the personnel??? Strange.

We played pretty well, especially second half and really should have won, but their keeper did well, we conceded a really crap goal and ended up chasing the game when tbf Brighton were actually playing the better stuff. Vydra was a breath of fresh air up front and Lowton had his best game in ages. We need to replicate that kind of front foot display every week until we're safe. It's a shame Barnes was so far off it (was he really fit?) as Vydra needed a better foil, especially first half and I felt Jay should have been on after 60 mins. I'll take the point for now and hope it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass at some point!!

Pope 7 – one good save at 0:1 – nothing he could do about the goal
Lowton 9 – MoM bombed forward and got in some really good work with JBG
Tarkowski 6 – switched off for the goal and missed a sitter
Mee 7 – controlled performance
Pieters 7 – did well getting forward with a great shot before JBG’s goal
Gudmundsson 8 – much improved – he started to take on the fullback and worked really well
Westwood 6 – wish he would go forward instead of sideways at times – better second half
Cork 6 – also good in the second half – could have shot a couple of times
McNeil 7 – a bit of a passenger first half, but much better second
Barnes 6 – worked hard, but should have come off with 20 to go.
Vydra 8 – lots of great movement, got in behind the defence – just takes an extra touch sometimes when he needs to shoot
I thought we did ok in the first half, but gave away a poor goal. Second half we were very good and should have got 3 points. Playing that well, we should certainly pick up enough points to survive – and a cup run too – hopefully. UTC
