I doubt that their would have been more than 6000 on. Nobody wants to watch us play Bournemouth in a cup competition they want to watch us play in the Premier league

Don’t need fans that tell the truth? The man’s spot on!
That was crap from Dyche, didn’t want anything to do with winning that game tonight and it showed with his starting 11.
Would of been shock of the round tonight had we of got through that with Glennon, Long, Dunne, Benson & Stephens starting!

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Wasn`t disappointed with the starting line up but grossly disappointed with the performance, there was enough experience out there to have put a bit of a show on, not the shambles we witnessed.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
That’s logicL Erasmus but it’s not what football is about. It’s about the fans it’s about emotion and it’s about excitement. Despite our fitness problems we could have put a better team than that out or at least played better!!

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
The number of times we’ve gone out of cup competitions to lower division opposition is an embarrassment to the club. It’s the 5th round for gods sake - we had a real chance to do something this season and we play a team like that!!
Utterly disgusted.

So the height of our ambition is just to stay in the league, season in, season out, without even the dream of playing in a cup final or maybe even winning a bit of silverware.
What a miserable f...king existence. We used to “dare to dream” but if there’s no longer anything to dream about, I’m questioning what the point is.

Or maybe because people have realised Dyche treats the cup competitions like something on the bottom of his shoe?Top Claret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:39 pmI doubt that their would have been more than 6000 on. Why am I not surprised? Different personnel, same style of performance, wack it forward and hope it goes somewhere near a front player. Very little creativity, very little planning.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Really angry with those of you who think we would have had no chance of getting beyond the quarters. On our day we have shown we can beat anybody (well not City). Really fed up with our lack of ambition tonight. It was our beat chance in years to progress in the cup. Starting without Tarks or Mee was a disgrace. As for Pieters not being able to start, that is just downright amateur and someone’s head should roll.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Most on here have seen us in the lower leagues, to be honest
I preferred it their for a few different reasons but dyche can not win rest or play 1st team players but the palace game is more important no question and as said a few posts back we have looked knackered last few games.
Until pace shows his hand prem football is a must!

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
I'm not in the least bit angry. But I am very disappointed because what I saw confirmed what I've known for ages. That beyond 7 or 8 first choice regulars we are very, very weak and do not have the depth of squad. TBF, having real quality back up and fringe players, particularly in a range of positions doesn't come cheap and costs money and we've chosen not to spend it, so don't be surprised when Kevin Long, Dale Stehens, Josh Benson etc, etc are found wanting and get basically played off the park.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
I'm watching Carrick Rangers v Linfield on Sky. Far better game to watch and TBH how we played tonight this is the level we are at tactically and that shower tonight would struggle to get in either squad.

We weren’t favourites, more premier league experience in that Bournemouth team than ours tonight.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:31 pmPretty hard to sell us as everyones favourite underdog when we can't even perform when the favourite against lower league opposition. Everyones favourite laughing stock might be more realistic.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Location wise funny our back up midfielder is a player from Brighton (Stephens aged 31) down the south coast from Bournemouth and theirs is a player from Preston (Pearson aged 26) down the road from us !!!!!!!

With hindsight it might have been better if we had played Pieters and been disqualified......

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Fully agree that we don't have enought quality depth in the squad but it doesn't help those backup players when the manager plays so many together in a game. If only 1 or 2 of them had been played with 9 or 10 1st choice players around them I'm fairly sure that they would have had a greater chance of playing better.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:58 pmI'm not in the least bit angry. Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
Looking at it objectively (if possible) Long has been here forever and has never been good enough, but Glennon for example looked excellent in the opposition half and to me he'd make a better winger than a full back as in our half he looked poor. Dunne, I THINK could be a really good player, but I totally agree, he needs to play with Mee or Tarks rather than alongside Long as that really isn't helping him develop.Leisure wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:35 pmFully agree that we don't have enought quality depth in the squad but it doesn't help those backup players when the manager plays so many together in a game. Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
I'm still angry about this, I know I should get out more (lockdown joke), but he was offside when the initial ball was played forward like I said he would be and you cant argue that he wasn't interfering with play as he's the goal scorer. as for the penalty, watched it again and I still cant for the life of me see why it was given.
That said, still no excuses for the performance from us.

It wasn’t offside. The ball you are talking about was not for him or near him and he became active after that. No way was that offside.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Bournemouth
The modern day rule says it's onside but I agree with you; the player has to be considered as interfering with play because it's giving defenders a decision to make, which will affect an action only a second later.
The defence has a good line & had the ball been played through towards him & he'd reacted he'd have been offside. Just because in the next phase the ball is then played square & he's not offside shouldn't cancel out the fact the defenders did a correct job initially. It doesn't give the defenders any chance of getting goal side after the ball is played to crosser. In this sense you might as well not bother playing offside.
