People need to understand football and how it works before criticising a player. Looks at what the other 9 outfield players are doing before pointing the finger at Dwight passing backwards.
It’s all about movement and finding space. That’s why Dwight will drift inside to find that space himself and get on the ball, it’s then up to others to do the same to allow Dwight to pick a pass. You’re only as good as those around you and unfortunately those around don’t know the basics of finding and creating space. Kevin De Bryune is known for creating space and his passing ability is outstanding due to the runs that Sterling, Aguero, Jesus make amongst others.
Exactly this, and never more obvious when it comes to throw in’s. We always hide from a quick throw in.
I don’t think our rigid tactics allow for “in battle” ingenuity and creativity which is why we are so predictable.
The lad can’t be expected to be the sole creative spark. We need others to compliment, otherwise we revert to type (sideways and hoof).

No team is creative when form takes a wobble. Dwight is part of a team that is struggling, look at the quality Liverpool have but recently they have looked ordinary. Westwood is not having the impact going forward he has had in previous seasons either. Dwight is a good player but but for me not the player some seem to see, the number of times I see him either jogging back after losing the ball, or on his heels as a wing back pours forward suggests to me he loses concentration. Hopefully with an upturn in form we will see his attacking qualities return.

I actually cannot believe this thread. Genuinely. People spouting absolute b*locks about how one footed he is and generally saying he is over rated. Many players are hopelessly one footed but do they get this sh*t, no. As for him passing back what the hell do you expect when we play the way we do? Dwight is an unbelievably good player and unlike Tarks or Mee (for instance) he would probably be better in a better team. Tarks and Mee are fantastic for us but would they be better in a better team? I’m not so sure but Dwight I think would actually improve in a more forward thinking team.

funnily enough he pretty much admitted in his interview yesterday he's not been in the best of form recently, Dyche also mentions how hard he is on himself. He was immense yesterday and you could see it from minute one that he was on it

He’s 21. Last year Trent was best right back in world this year he has been rubbish. Young players take time. We are lucky to have him

agree 100% and have said the same thing in multiple threads, pretty unusual for such a young player to play so many games, enjoy him whilst we can

Re watching the Everton game it seems that Dwight was given a free role which makes him more of a goal threat when cutting in from the right and creating on the left. Long may it continue., he can then can no longer be considered(by some) as a one trick pony.UTC.

It was more of a 4231, than a 442, Vydra gives you that flexibility, in an ideal world that Everton first half is how i would like us to play with 3 skilful players rotating their positions behind a central striker.

Agree with this. Some of the football we played was , well, fantastic with Vydra, McNeill and JBG buzzing around Wood leading the line. Plenty of security behind them with Brownhill and Westwood's engines and both full backs adding extra width going forward. Great stuff.
