Grew up in the same area as John Simm... he was a good kid, if a little cheeky.

Glad he's doing well, good actor, been good in everything i have seen him in.

Loved Mad Dogs. Great chemistry between the four leads. Will have to give that another watch.

Yes and he went to the same school as Lee Ingleby - of George Gently fame playing Bacchus (Greek God of wine - a chap after my own heart)

Ingleby was born in Burnley and lived in nearby Brierfield during the early part of his life, attending Edge End High School, as did fellow actor John Simm. Both were taught by the same drama teacher.

I've not read the books but I thought it was decently done- albeit pretty formulaic.

Seaside location (cue shots of cliffs/waves rolling in)
Unconventional detective with some sort of troubled domestic circumstance/history
Superiors in force who dont like his unconventional approach and obstruct him- only to see him succeed whilst they flounder.

I stayed viewing until the end last night, 'Ill probably watch next time but not wholly convinced yet.

I've read a few of his books including that one, so I knew what was going on. But it should be a good series.

Yes- I recognised quite a few Brighton/Hove sequences. There were also bits where there was a decent sized river(and bridge) which I took to be Shoreham though I've never been there so not 100% sure.

Now we've had the Dorset coast in Broadchurch, the Sussex coast here and Morecambe in The Bay (& quite a few Vera episodes in NE coastal area); I'm looking forward to one set in Skeggy.

That was the motorway bridge at the Shoreham turn off.if you look closely there is a large wooden bridge behind it,near to where the Shoreham airport disaster happened.😣
