Turf Moor sound system

Post by Claretforshaw » Thu May 20, 2021 12:39 pm

As I get close to being 70, I am definitely getting a bit “mutton” so is it me or does there need to be some improvement to the sound system at TM. I struggle to understand announcements etc.

I'm OVER 70 and I have the same problem, but I also struggle to know what the words to fans chants are. (So maybe it's me?)

I'm sure the sound system will be part of the digital overhaul. I hope so anyway.

I thought the quality of the tannoy was excellent last night. Perhaps I noticed more because I was in Hargreaves upper and not my usual seat in CFS

My memory of it is that it is deafening. I put my fingers in my ears for every announcement.

JMU for first time in years last night. Nothing wrong with my hearing but barely heard a word.

Same here, Roger. In the top corner of JMU and most of what was said or played was unintelligible.

It’s not good. In our stand the only decent place to hear it is in the gents.

It’s also too loud before games and at half time, you can’t hold a conversation with anyone.

The problem with the sound system is that it tries to provide two functions. Firstly announcements and secondly music. The eq settings for these should be totally different. What I tend to hear is that the operator thinks louder=clearer. This is not the case.

My season ticket is in the JM Upper and the PA system has been like that for years. It is very difficult to understand what is being said.

Crap sound in Bob Lord last night. I’m normally in JMU and normally it’s fine.

Maybe it depends where your seat is then because where I sit in the Jimmy Mac upper it is very difficult at times to understand what is being said in the various anouncements.
