Martin Braithwaite
Dont know if this has been posted please remove if it has. We have been linked with him he played well today i wouldnt want him as a striker but could do a job right wing ?
Re: Martin Braithwaite
Looked very ordinary.
Re: Martin Braithwaite
You’re dreaming if you think we can afford him, or beat any other suitors to his signature!

Re: Martin Braithwaite
105K per week at Barcelona............absolutely ZERO chance we would be interested in him
Re: Martin Braithwaite
Not that he's worth that much a week but he looked a standard higher than us can't see him joining us to watch the ball hoofed all game.

Re: Martin Braithwaite
I wouldn't mind getting paid 40k a week to not be able to pass a football and hoof it all day. Sorry my mistake I forgot you need to be a quality player to pass a ball.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 5:28 amMaybe if we had better quality players we wouldn’t “hoof” all game
Re: Martin Braithwaite
He's shite, looked bang average in the Championship with Boro.
Re: Martin Braithwaite
He has looked poor all tournament. On yesterday's performance, I'd rather we signed any of the other 10 starters.
The young kid from sampdoria, damsgaard would be more affordable. He'd top my list.

I was quite impressed with Xaver Schlager of Austria today, can't say I know anything about him though

I liked him against Holland too, workhorse.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 7:18 amI was quite impressed with Xaver Schlager of Austria today, can't say I know anything about him though

Which suggests he's better than many on here think.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:19 pmI find it difficult to think that the player who we saw at Middlesbrough has ever ended up at Barcelona.

Re: Martin Braithwaite
Braithwaite seems to have plenty of English suitors, Brighton, Burnley, Norwich & West Ham have been linked with him, you'd imagine if West Ham are genuinely interested that's where he'll end up as they can offer him the carrot of European football, which none of the others can boost.
8 goals in 53 appearances for Barca doesn't suggest we'll be missing out should we fail to secure his signature. And he's just turned 30, so hardly one to set the pulses racing for me.
He did play well yesterday, but then Wales gave him the freedom of Amsterdam to allow him to play.

Re: Martin Braithwaite
Absolutely disgusting he was allowed to sign for Barca mid season (was it an ''injury crisis''?) which relegated his then club who weren't even allowed to sanction a replacement.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 1:19 pmI find it difficult to think that the player who we saw at Middlesbrough has ever ended up at Barcelona.
Re: Martin Braithwaite
Wolfsburg did well last year, seem to have a very good young squad assembled. I've been impressed with the Dutch striker also at Wolfsburg, Wouz Weghorst. Not that we could afford/attract him but he'd be an absolute handful upfront for us

Re: Martin Braithwaite
To be fair Tony didn’t we break two premier league records last season.
The ball on the pitch the least amount of time and most inaccurate pass accuracy.
We hoof the ball most games. Not really sure how anyone can say differently.

The premier league stats would say different.
We hit 600 more long balls than any other team. This is also whilst having some of the lowest possession stats in the league.
We hit on average 75 long balls a game.
Again not sure how anyone can say we don’t hoof the ball most of the time.
Not saying we don’t play some nice stuff now and then. But generally we hit it long bypassing the midfield.

Much better to watch the game than rely on stats.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 3:57 pmhttps://www.premierleague.com/stats/top ... lls?se=363

Re: Martin Braithwaite
So when Liverpool did it to win the League with Alexander Arnold and Robertson it’s tactical genius, rock n roll football etc. when we do it it’s hoofballNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 3:57 pmhttps://www.premierleague.com/stats/top ... lls?se=363

Over 13,000 passes and fewer than 3,000 long balls. Not sure how 3,000 out of 13,000 can be called most of the time.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 3:57 pmhttps://www.premierleague.com/stats/top ... lls?se=363

Re: Martin Braithwaite
You can spin it however you want. It is statiscally proven that we play the highest number and highest percentage of long balls in the league.
Like I said earlier not a bad thing. It’s very effective and we also play some decent stuff at times.
Re: Martin Braithwaite
You're the one spinning it. You said we hoof the ball "most of the time" which would mean we play more long balls than short ones, and that isn't true.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 5:57 pmYou can spin it however you want. You're now shifting the goalposts to say more than any other team in the league.
