Re: Today's Games
Dias has been all over the place so far this tournament which has been a real surprise, he will have to up his game today to keep out the likes of KDB and Lukaku. I'm hoping for a 5-5 draw, 7-7 after extra time and 15-14 on pens to anybody

Re: Today's Games
I’d like Portugal knocked out ASAP.
Our side of the draw has opened up in such a way that we have to be confident (but not arrogant), that if we beat Germany we can reach the final with as ‘easy’ a path as we could ever dream of.
As a result, you start to consider who you would like to play in a final - for me, that is anyone but Ronaldo.

Re: Today's Games
This is a tough one and while not confident in my prediction I’m going for Belgium to come out victorious.
Two teams with big match winners but I love watching De Bruyne playing and hope he plays a big part in the game because if he does we should have some good football to look forward to.

Re: Today's Games
Perhaps, an England victory by 3-0 in the final over Portugal, with the England players lining up at the final whistle, to " wink " at Ronaldo previously sent off for two Yellow card " simulation " offences ... then I woke up !

Re: Today's Games
Well either way one of the big boys is going out tonight, yes England and Germany are on the right side of the draw on paper, but today's result should have taught us not to underestimate anybody left in this competition, let's just try and take care of the Germany game first and foremost then take it from there, if we start getting ahead of ourselves that's when the focus can be lost and we could face being dumped out of the tournament by whoever we play.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 7:11 pmI’d like Portugal knocked out ASAP.

One of the Czech Republic/Denmark will make at least the semi final, and you wouldn't have imagined that at the onset of the tournament would you.
Prediction I fancy Belgium, Portugal have looked dodgy at the back in their last couple of games, and if there's any side which has the firepower to take advantage of that fragility it's Belgium.
But equally Belgium have a dads army backline, so Ronaldo & co must fancy their chances of making hay.
I'll go 4-2 Belgium, I expect and hope for goals tonight.

Re: Today's Games
Yes that was ridiculous, and a player of his talent shouldn't need to resort to such despicable behaviour, well done to the ref for ignoring his histrionics, and what a remarkable recovery Ronaldo made when he saw play was continuing.
He nearly broke the deadlock with that free kick mind you. But apart from that it's not lived up to it's billing thus far, it needs a spark to ignite the game.

Re: Today's Games
Based on the opening half an hour it’s looking like the kind of game that will be decided by a piece of magic by Ronaldo. I’m surprised to see Belgium have so little of the ball.

Re: Today's Games
I’d logged on to say this match is like an episode of Dad’s Army but then I see tiger76 has beaten me to it
The French look easy winners for the tournament but from our point of view the Germany game is like a semi final. The sides in front of us until the final are so poor, far weaker than Croatia were.
(it hasn’t been lost on me that we’d have only had the Czechs to beat in 1996 too and Germany stopped that dream - I do fear that will happen again)

reminds me of a boring PL game, completely cancelling each other out so far. Don't know if it's the heat but the lack of intensity is surprising

Re: Today's Games
Dixon talking shite again.
Lukaku has his shirt tugged, makes a pass and gets sweet fanny adams. Dixon says you can’t have it both ways he made the pass. He made the pass cos he was playing to the whistle. It was a foul.

I'd be annoyed if Pope conceded to a shot like that, shouldn't be hard for an International keeper to save that

Great strike by Hazard, that's the younger Hazard not Eden Boy did the game need that, hopefully the 2nd half will be all the better for it.

Nick Pope would have caught, and before setting up a goal- scoring counter attack, would have signed a couple of autographs too.

Pope would have caught it, dived on it, attempted to waste a few minutes and then finally skewed his kick into row zBuxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 8:48 pmPah!

Indeed and the Danes were pretty useful too, you underestimate both those at your peril, one of them is going to be in a semi-final, and then who knows on the day.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:01 pmWe are spoiled by all the quality players we get to see weekly in the PL.

Becoming a very poor spectacle. In danger of becoming a disgrace to the fine art.
For a big lad, Lukaku is a real mard ar$e.

The playacting has been really noticeable tonight, and it's one of my pet hates as well, that plus the blatant timewasting antics by Belgium since they've taken the lead.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:38 pmThis game reminds me of everything that pi££es me off in the PL.

Belgium through but at what cost, both De Bruyne & Eden Hazard going off with injuries tonight, thankfully for them they do have the strength in depth to replace them, but KDB in particular will be a massive loss if he's out of the rest of the tournament, which he may well be alas.
2nd half improved somewhat but it sadly wasn't the classic we hoped for.
