Usually the summarisers don't bother me, but I found Dixon really irritating tonight for some reason.

Re: Today's Games
Croatia v Spain and France v Switzerland.
Any more shocks tonight, I wonder ?
I'm thinking Croatia and France to go through but I've backed both matches to go to extra time.

Re: Today's Games
The Croatia v Spain looks the harder one to predict.
I’m on a bit of a roll after predicting Belgium to beat Portugal last night ( sorry to one or two on this board who don’t think I stick my neck out enough).
I may have gone on record ( need to check it out) that Croatia are on the wane so I’m going to back my opinion up by predicting a Spanish win although I also think Spain have had their best days too.
Surely France won’t get beat by Switzerland who were 66-1 at the start of the tournament to win the whole thing. So France to beat Switzerland .
I will slightly edge my bet and predict that If Switzerland take the French to penalties they will be rolling around in delight tonight.

That's worse than the bouncing Czechs....
I'm still recovering from watching today's Tour stage - the crashes always look horrific.

Not a big fan of women summarisers but this lass, Emma Hayes, is very good. Doesn’t love the sound of her own voice like far too many and very insightful.

20m. Croatia take lead with an OG. Back pass from 40yds, keeper nightmare.

Why having a solid keeper like Pickford who is also very good with his feet is so vital at this level.

Why passing it about at the back means you risk looking like a complete cockwomble and can cost you and your team

Re: Today's Games
That was nothing to do with passing it about a the back. It was a simple back pass to the keeper that Nick Pope probably deals with 10-15 times per game.

Spain invented passing out from the back - you can see why they gave it up

That rebic of Croatia looks a decent unit. Busy and strong on the ball, robust in the challenge.

Just tuned in for the 2nd half. Who is that woman on co- commentary? An utter bore. Time to turn off the sound.

Emma Hayes. Offers more insight than most co-comms. Possibly a bit too technical for some on here to understand though so could maybe do to dumb it down a bit.

Croatia look just as woeful as they did against England. Offered nothing in either game and well past their sell by date.

Insight? She hasn't shut up. And yes I do know because I didn't turn off the volume. It's cliche after cliche. What's rotation and a false nine?

Re: Today's Games
she has had more to say than the main commentator

If we forget the chavvy accent (which is difficult enough), my honest opinion is that her "insightful" co-commentary is boring and pointless to anyone who understands the game, and right over the heads of those who don't.

Southgate's stock gets better by the game. A win against Germany tomorrow and he probably goes down as the second best England manager of all time and second only to the great Alf Ramsey

Well done Croatia to take the game into extra time. The Spain team thought they’d done everything they needed to and it serves them right

Re: Today's Games
She'll be on a different chapter now looking for clichés to do with extra time. No mention from her of Modric who, as usual, is running the game.
