Jordan North
Jordan North
I stopped listening to it years ago, but claret Jordan North has just announced he'll be presenting Radio 1's drive time show, the second biggest show on there after the breakfast show.
Fair play to the lad, it's only a couple of years since he was on Rock FM.

Re: Jordan North
I didn't really know about the bloke until recently but he gave us one hell of a lot of good publicity so fair play to him.
I was in a zoom meeting alongside supporters from all the other Premier League clubs earlier this year and when I wanted to speak the chairman said he was handing over to "Tony in his Happy Place".

So is that Burnley fans on Radio 1 and 5Live Drivetimes?
Re: Jordan North
As above. I'd never heard of him before 'I'm a Celebrity' as I don't listen to the radio but found myself having a cheeky check in on the TV show just to see how he was doing. Great publicity for us.

Re: Jordan North
Good, Nick Grimshaw was/is utter, utter garbage.
He was a shockingly poor choice to replace Chris Moyles on the breakfast show and the listening figures dropped sharply and didn't recover until they put Greg James on there.
Very similar to when they put Zoe Ball on after Chris Evans left years ago.

Last time I listened to Radio 1 it was Simon Mayo going into work and Steve Wright in the Afternoon when I was coming home.

If you long for those days, Wright is still doing exactly the same show but on Radio 2 in the afternoon. I find him painful to listen to.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 6:21 pmLast time I listened to Radio 1 it was Simon Mayo going into work and Steve Wright in the Afternoon when I was coming home.
I didn't really know Jordan North but then realised his father Graham was best mates with a great friend I used to work with, Alfie Young. Graham was pall bearer at Alfie's funeral in 1997, 10 years to the day after i watched the Orient game from the CF stand with Alfie.
Re: Jordan North
Steve Wright recorded one show in the eighties and just plays it back every day with different songs.

Radio 1 hasn't been the same since The hairy Cornflake, followed by Tony Blackburn with Arnold the dog Woof,Woof.

They once broke my stereo speakers. I switched on right in the middle of "stop.....carry on" and I couldn't understand why I couldn't hear anything, so just kept increasing the volume. I even had my ear right up to the speaker as I could hear feedback and they nearly blew out my ear drum when it got to the "CAAAARRYYYY ONNNNN!!" bit.
Happy days.

Re: Jordan North
Well done Jordan, it's always great to see a local lad made good, and he seems to mention the club in a positive fashion whenever he gets the chance, maybe not quiet in the fanatical Tony Livesey vein, but still he has brought great prominence to our club over the past few months since IAC aired, so good to see him reaping the rewards of his hard graft by landing this gig.
Sadly I have to confess I'm not likely to be listening to him anytime soon as I haven't had Radio 1 on for about 25 years or so, but I've no doubt he's got a fan base which will tune in, and it's no bad thing if BFC is brought to the attention of a younger demographic in my view, makes a pleasant change from reading all the negative headlines about the town.

I’m a bit of an old chap but heard JN a few years ago, then after a Player of Year dinner he was in town………..Ben Mee etc there……..top bloke and no ego, just proud of his home town/family etc. Really like listening on R1 when he’s on so good luck to him, and as long as he keeps promoting Burnley!

He’s great for the club and the town and he’s really popular - lots thinking he should have the breakfast show after Greg James.

Re: Jordan North
if you identify with a youth celeb with a mediocre following of airheaded radio 1 saps, then go for it.
the lad seems decent, but with dross like ant and dec as a springboard, dont you think your historic links with the team you love deserves a bit more than a happy place descriptive? fine and dandy if you suck up to any publicity is good publicity theory.

If you know Alan and Graham you will probably know me I also went to the funeral and me and Graham grew up together and were best friend's, all three of us were friends and went to the same school. Me and Graham have known each from two years old we both lived opposite each other on Holbeck Street and Graham's mum Vera and my mum took turns to look after us both during the school holidays, it was a massive shock about Alan it was an almost carbon copy of how his dad died at almost the same age.

I worked with Alan for 11 years but only knew Graham through Alan . One of his other good mates was Colin Dunseith. He was a great lad and I was devastated when I got a phone call to tell me the sad news. I had moved to a London 4 weeks before and last saw him at a leaving do at Michelin club.ClaretMov wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 9:17 amIf you know Alan and Graham you will probably know me I also went to the funeral and me and Graham grew up together and were best friend's from two years old we both lived opposite each other on Holbeck Street and Graham's mum Vera and my mum took turns to look after us both during the school holidays

I'm Grahams elder Brother. I've passed on your comments.
Back to Jordan, he is " over the moon" with the appointment. It's what he's been working towards since he started broadcasting.

Mark and Lard were fantastic. The Fat Harry White stories with his double entendres often had me crying with laughter.
Re: Jordan North
Hi how are you doing, do you remember us living at no1 Holbeck Street, I Bumped into your sister a good few years ago she was running a pub in Brierfield and she'd not seen me for 30+ years but she recognised me straight away I sat at the bar all night and talked about our parents.
I have a photo of me and Graham dress up like spaceman it was Christmas day around 1970/71
