Dyche's best signing
Any nominations and then I'll stick up a voting poll on the site as I did with the best games
I'll offer up Tom Heaton, Scott Arfield and David Jones for starters

For the season that was in it, Joey Barton.
James Tarkowski.
James Tarkowski.
Re: Dyche's best signing
Good 3 there Tony....I put forward Chris Wood, may have cost a lot of money but he's a proven goalscorer when given a chance.....and I think he's getting better.

Re: Dyche's best signing
I think Michael Keane is another who should be in the conversation.
Relative pittance (what was it, £3m?), unbelievable in the 15/16 promotion, great in the PL too then sold for a record £30m fee.

Re: Dyche's best signing
Surprised no one's mentioned Ashley Barnes, played a vital role in our 1st promotion under SD, and he's been a constant pest to PL defenders ever since, as well as scoring plenty of top flight goals in the process.
I don't know what we forked out for him, but I'm guessing it was a modest fee, and we've been handsomely paid back in spades.

Re: Dyche's best signing
If he cost around the reported £400,000 then it has to be Ashley Barnes.

Re: Dyche's best signing
I don't even know who I would vote for. Too many good names, when you see that Heaton, Tarkowski, Keane and Pope all became England internationals it's hard to choose.
In terms of best signing do we factor in finance or only ability?
Chris Wood has been a great signing but cost £15m whereas some of the others were free.

Re: Dyche's best signing
Quite simply JOEY BARTON. There is not a single poster on here that would not have said "don't touch him with a barge pole-he's trouble". SD saw what he could bring, laid down the law, got him fit then picked him every game. One of the main reasons we won the Championship title. What I would give now for another JB

Heaton - free transfer, club captain, colossal of a man both on and off the field.
Nick Pope - cheap inexperienced league 1 bound goalkeeper to England international, and quite possibly our most prized asset and important player in the team ( as the back end of the season showed )
Chris Wood - a snip when you think of where his goals have got us, simply the best striker we have at the club and 4 consecutive seasons in double figures for a side like ours that doesn't create bags of chances is phenomenal.

Re: Dyche's best signing
On overall quality and the 6 months or so in 2017 that we saw of him Steven Defour.
For consistency, Michael Keane, Tom Heaton, Scott Arfield, Ashley Barnes, Nick Pope, Chris Wood, James Tarkowski, David Jones, Joey Barton, Stephen Ward.
My personal favourite has to be Ashley Westwood, the effort and determination he plays with is really impressive.

Re: Dyche's best signing
Joey Barton. My favourite ever Claret. Legit.
Re: Dyche's best signing
Some very very good signings already mentioned but I think it rather unfair on the others to single just one player out.
Having said all that I’m going to single just one out
which is Scott Arfield signed on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town Reserves wasn’t he?
I thought he was absolutely superb for us on and off the field for those 5 years or so and a credit to his family, also if it hadn’t been for Strachan being the national manager I’m sure Scotty would have won numerous caps for his native Scotland.

Re: Dyche's best signing
Andre Gray, having a predator for that promotion season was massive...closely followed by Scotty, his atheletism rubbed off on his teammates.

3 Arfield
Big shout out for Stephen Ward one of the most improved players under Dyche and Billy Mercer who must of impressed Dyche for SD to keep him on when Laws left

Re: Dyche's best signing
For outright ability and quality, no question. Steven defour.
SD has brought in some absolutely superb players, and some have been better footballers than others, but what they brought to the TEAM was immense.
Barton was the captain in the middle of the pitch we needed.
Scotty was a machine who never knew when he was beat.
Wardy was solid, dependable and was just SO Burnley.
I love Ben Mee tho… he’s a dyche signing ain’t he? Can’t quite remember.

My immediate thought was Ben Mee, however I then realised he's probably the only member of the squad who precedes Sean Dyche's appointment.

Let go by a poor Huddersfield side and about to sign for some lower league outfit before we stepped in.
