The same cheating divers as last year, Jack ,Wilf,Jamie V and Raheem will continue to cheat and con refs while the ref ignore the blatant play acting by the above.

I think their panic is based on our previous windows. I'm not panicking yet but have to admit that I'm not hopeful based on previous windows and the lack of rumours.
I'll say it now but it will be the equivalent of criminal negligence if we don't bring some youth and pace, in particular right wing and modfield. With our one signing and outgoings we have spent very little so far so money shouldn't be the problem.

Don't think the Transfer fee is the issue. We are still in for Cornet, if you believe Nixon. Lookman and AMN are still a possibility. It's wages that are holding us back. Our structure is lower wages with big survival bonuses, unfortunately, most players seem to be adverse to this.

Two weeks? There are still 25 days of the window left. Yes, it would be nice to have new faces in time for the Brighton game, but I doubt it would make that much difference if we have to wait until the end of August.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:13 amhttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skyspo ... -alan-pace

I’m so sorry Gordaleman, 25 days! There could be four years of the window left I doubt I’d feel particularly reassured by it.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:21 amTwo weeks? In that link Pace explains the difficulties that we face in the market. He also talks about supporting Dyche, but doesn’t put too much emphasis on this being through new signings. By retaining the services of our key players he is also supporting Dyche.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:13 amhttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skyspo ... -alan-pace

I’m far from happy with the current strength of our squad, but what a lot of people don’t seem to factor in when they talk about the lack of squad strengthening over the past few years is that we’ve retained our best players which has diminished our need to strengthen.
The signings of Collins and Hennessy have shown that the board are looking to support Dyche. We need a couple more pieces to fall into place, no doubt, but the signs are that we are trying. The reality of the situation is that operating under our financial constraints this isn’t going to be as simple as a lot of fans expect - but then again a lot don’t live in the real world when it’s other people’s money being spent.

If we still haven't improved the squad by the end of August, we'll all be upset, but at least give us a chance.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:22 amI’m so sorry Gordaleman, 25 days! There could be four years of the window left I doubt I’d feel particularly reassured by it.
Players have a lot of personal choice these days about where they go, and Cornet for example has said he'sd prefer to play in Germany. So no matter the fees and wages involved, Burnley can't be blamed if he does.

Good Post.
100% agree. The retention of McNeil, Pope and Tarkowski is far more important than the addition of any players that won't be in the starting 11.
If a couple of starters arrive this week or next I'd take that all day long.

I’m aware of a third party saying that they believe that this would be the players preference but that is not the same thing.
Nobody knows what Cornet wants to do - or whether we are close to signing or not even at the races anymore. Just need to take any bit of info we have with a pinch of salt until anything is announced

As with anything in the world of transfers, nothing is absolute, but whatever the source, there would be no point in saying it if there wasn't an element of truth in it.clarethomer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:39 amWhere has Cornet said that he would prefer to play in Germany?

My point remains the same. Players have plenty of choice these days, and if I was in Cornet's position, I think I would prefer Berlin to Burnley as well.

From strictly a location point if view:
Because those places compare a lot better to places like Berlin. Problem with us is players want to live far away so have to commute longer.
Looking outside the box these teams are also able to offer more 'competitive' wages than we can so any downside is less of a thought.

Also the prospect of our tactics and style of play. Not every player likes the idea of having to play in such a rigid system.

Explains the poor results I suppose in some games when they have had a 4 hour drive to the ground

It's still a lot further than living near Burnley and a lot more inconvenient than being able to live in a big city for a variety of reasons.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 8:56 amfar away.

Don’t think we have a single player living in Burnley. Mebbe Jayrod has a flat in Padiham??

I know nothing about Cornet other than what's been said in the media, but if he has a preference for Germany over England, it could be because he already speaks German but not English. It could be as simple as that. Who knows, but it's pretty much his choice. Time will tell.

James Pearce from Liverpool echo
Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle have all been in touch with Liverpool about Nat Phillips. No bids received yet.

Surely the Premier League and wages would be the major pull rather than the location.

It’s an interesting one. I saw Knight play a few times at the start of last season and I thought he looked really really good. However second half he seemed to have a dip (admittedly so did the whole team).ClaretAL wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 9:20 amhttps://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/soc ... 52108.html

Morning everyone - Happy Friday.
Excited/nervous. Big international friendly tomorrow then a week till it all kicks off.
My gut feeling is that the frenzy is about to commence with transfers in general.
Americans do like a big "ticker tape Hurrah!" start to a new season so I am optimistic on incomings and contracts.

Still not believing this Cornet one. Seems so unlike Burnley/Dyche.

On Knight he's due back around October time, so although not ideal, he'd at least provide us with a viable option on the right, and he should be reasonably cheap given Derby's well documented problems.

Knight is a central midfielder, do we just guess player positions now or confuse central players with wide players due to Dyche using Brownhill and Hendrick there previously?

Looks like Hertha Berlin are firm favourites for Cornet's signature. The fee just needs tweaking up a bit.

I think if Leeds sign Matheus Cunha from Hertha for £25M then its all over and Cornet will go to them.
