Bus shelter vandals...
In the early hours of this morning Vandals smashed nearly every bus shelter between Padiham and Burnley. It’s going to cost thousands to repair.
Someone must know those who were involved. Do the right thing and turn them in!

Peasants.
Some residents and business owners on the main will probably have CCTV of the culprits walking along.
A shambles that they will now not be available nor fit for purpose for those thst need them to get about their daily lives.

Re: Bus shelter vandals...
On a “smaller scale” but equally as mindless and moronic, the shelter at Brierfield Train Station was smashed last week
Re: Bus shelter vandals...
We all know though nothing will be done about it, slap on the wrist nappy rash as a baby made him angry through life etc etc and us poor sods who work or use public transport will pay for it.

Hopefully the culprits were caught on dashcam or CCTV. The shelters were all new and were to be fitted with digital displays for arrivals. Some senseless Stupid buggers about.

There is no credible deterrent for the mindless morons. The namby pamby liberalists who shout 'foul' at anything approaching a proper punishment have allowed some of society to run around doing what they like. Padiham has some real scrotes wreaking havoc around parts of the town.

Re: Bus shelter vandals...
If they are kids, it will be a slap on the wrist, if caught. There is a reluctance to criminalise them. A visit from the police and told not to do it again. Pitiful really, because they only end up doing far worse crimes while believing they can get away with anything.

Maybe they should have their faces put on large billboards around town so people can see what they look like. But being stupid they would probably like that.

Tied to the back of the bus with 1m of slack and told to keep up for a week would be more preferable.

I drove in to town and noticed everyone smashed from Gannow top but even as far as the prestige building.
Burnley makes great efforts to improve the town and its reputation and then this happens! No one however appeared to be cleaning up and repairing. Seemed to be a deliberate campaign of destruction.

Its the judiciary and sometimes the CPS which are too soft on crime as well as successive governments.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:57 pmWhen was the last time “namby pamby liberalists” were in power?

Makes me think it is someone with a beef against the bus company, given the wide range of the damage maybe a car was used.

Re: Bus shelter vandals...
Not sure what the value of damage is but if the damage is less than 5k then the culprits can only get a maximum 3 months custody. admit it at the first opportunity and get 33 percent credit. thats down to 2 months, then you serve half of that so you have 1 month to serve. you will be out in 14-21 days on Tag. Maybe less. If exceeded 5k then its a max of 4 years. Very unusual do get that long as that is right at the top end of the guidelines.

Given the spread of the damage, best part of 4 miles, unlikely to be kids/teenagers.

Glass everywhere. I've often wondered when this happens why they don't replace it with that really tough
Perspex-type plastic stuff.
Unless there's some technical reason they can't.
Would seem the common sense thing to do.

It is safety glass which is designed to break into very small pieces. Perspex scratches, and I would guess is much harder to clean spray paint off for example.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 6:51 pmGlass everywhere. They need to replace it with the stuff the windows of the police observation box at Ewood was made out of. Some guy with a slab of Darwen End corrugated iron roof was having a right go at smashing that with no success

Re: Bus shelter vandals...
Never understood vandalism.
I kinda get graffiti, tagging, gangs and so on, even understanding that grey area before it’s street art - there’s a discussion there at least. Even littering I get, to some extent - some people are lazy or just don’t care about the society they live in… vandalism is just moronic though. It actually takes effort. Weird

Re: Bus shelter vandals...
Most towns do if not all padiham is no different but you notice it more because you probably live there or visit there often, I agree regarding the punishments, people who vandalise & wreck things should be forced to put it right, the liberals have a lot to answer for with being too soft regarding punishments, I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again the taxpayers & members of the general public need input on deciding punishments, small scale offences could be decided by a small committee elected representing any said town, for major offences eg murder you ask the nation.JohnMac wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:04 pmThere is no credible deterrent for the mindless morons. What better way to ask the nation than on prime time tv.
How else would you do it? Like an election, those cost a lot of money.
Just think how much we can charge for a text vote.
Vote A for ten years.
Vote B for twenty years.
Vote C for The Running Man punishment.
