I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit flakey

Sounds promising anyway, for those wondering €16m equates to £13.6m, so if those figures are correct he wouldn't be our record signing, but it would still be a hefty outlay by our standards.HahaYeah wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:56 pmFor a few weeks now, Burnley have been after Maxwel Cornet, who appears to be on his way out of Lyon in Ligue 1.
Back in mid-July, L’Equipe in France claimed Sean Dyche’s side weren’t scared of the €13m asking price set by the French club for their winger, and it appears the first steps towards a transfer have been taken.
By that, we mean an offer has been made, as per Foot Mercato, who report on Friday that Burnley have put forward ‘over €16m’ for Cornet.
This was ‘officially transmitted’ to the French side, and, by doing so, means the Premier League club have ‘clearly taken a lead’ over the competition, which mostly consists of Hertha Berlin.
Since Lyon ‘wanted at least €15m’, the offer from Burnley ticks all their boxes, suggesting that, if Cornet wants the move, he might not stay much longer.
Now, we just have to wait and see if both the club and the winger accept the offer.

Not heard that one yet! Hehe.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:03 pmIt doesn’t seem like Cornet is interested in Burnley regardless of us being the highest bidder.
If he does come will he get the squad number of 99 ?
I still can’t see this one, although accept it does increasingly appear there’s something in it.

I wouldn’t call it disrespect, more like resignation that he will be injured before the season is half over, even maybe before that . It’s been one of the big disappointments in recent timesminnieclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:08 pmSo much disrespect being paid to JBG on here. He’s had a summer off and a full pre-season. If he is anywhere near the player we signed he’ll have a good season.
Indeed! if we're expecting JBG to stay fully fit for the whole season we're not living in reality land, he's been plagued by niggles for a couple of years now, and it's sadly only a question of when not if he breaks down again, pity because at his best he's a major threat for us.
Summer off? He's had two seasons off hasn't he?minnieclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:08 pmSo much disrespect being paid to JBG on here. He’s had a summer off and a full pre-season. If he is anywhere near the player we signed he’ll have a good season.
Not niggles. His troubles started when he was taken out by the Lincoln thug and last season he got a horror tackle from a Blades player. Whether he lasts we don’t know.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:51 pmIndeed! if we're expecting JBG to stay fully fit for the whole season we're not living in reality land, he's been plagued by niggles for a couple of years now, and it's sadly only a question of when not if he breaks down again, pity because at his best he's a major threat for us.
No we don't know, but we'd be foolish to take that chance, hence why we need to sign another RW.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:57 pmNot niggles. Maxwel Cornet is expected to liven up the transfer market this weekend. The Ivorian international is indeed the subject of an assiduous court on behalf of two clubs, Hertha Berlin and Burnley, as revealed by L'Équipe on July 19. The player does not hide his preference for Germany. But he could resolve to finally join the Premier League: the Burnley club indeed sent on Friday an offer of € 17 million, excluding any bonuses, to buy the last two years of the 24-year-old versatile player's contract.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:18 pmL’equipe saying we’ve offered €17m for Cornet.

Given how badly just we need wide players, I’ll take it, but I do wish we were being linked to right sided, right footed wingers.
Anyone know if he speaks English? I can’t see Dyche learning French?!?
He could use us as a stepping stone......randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:19 pmMaxwel Cornet is expected to liven up the transfer market this weekend. Burnley must convince Cornet
In its approaches, the Hertha stays very far from this amount. This English offer is likely to convince OL, which should accept it, in order to garner some cash that could allow it to activate in the direction of arrivals (Shaqiri, Kurzawa, Azmoun ...). It remains now, for Burnley, to convince Maxwel Cornet to discover England. Discussions should multiply between the parties in the coming hours.
Surprised they are reporting on it given they were slamming us for not having any black players (a lie) a few years ago.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:18 pmL’equipe saying we’ve offered €17m for Cornet.

Its only last season he was playing left back. He's predominantly an inverted right winger like Gudmundsson. Presumingly he wants to play there rather than left back so he's the perfect fit to replace Gudmundsson when he's injured.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 9:19 pmI still can’t see this one, although accept it does increasingly appear there’s something in it.

they sound like Arsenal fans tbhNewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:32 pmThose comments do not look good… generally a selection of Lyon fans offering to take him to the airport themselves, drive him here, querying what drugs we’re on. Many saying fantastic offer & asking how Lyon sell so well.
Hoping we’ve not been done over here!
Imagine if a transfer should be conducted based on the opinions of a group of supporters.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:32 pmThose comments do not look good… generally a selection of Lyon fans offering to take him to the airport themselves, drive him here, querying what drugs we’re on. Exactly what do they know after probably watching him every game, it’s exactly like us having an opinion on Ben mee or Ashley Westwood ect, what we see with our own eyes doesn’t qualify us to have any knowledgeable opinions with any merit.
Considering a number of supporters didn't think Chris Wood was up to it last season I think their opinions can rightly be dismissed out of handJakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:12 amExactly what do they know after probably watching him every game, it’s exactly like us having an opinion on Ben mee or Ashley Westwood ect, what we see with our own eyes doesn’t qualify us to have any knowledgeable opinions with any merit.
So them people are clearly wrong & you must be right just for a change then, CW did drift in & out of form but when all said & done he’s the best we’ve got upfront in terms of goals scored, if he’s not scoring at least a brace a game you will get oddball extreme views that he’s not up to it of course, I can’t recall any posters offering to drive him anywhere or arguing that conflicting views were drug induced though.
If the scouts have identified him and SD is happy to get him just accept it. He can play.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:26 amSo them people are clearly wrong & you must be right just for a change then, CW did drift in & out of form but when all said & done he’s the best we’ve got upfront in terms of goals scored, if he’s not scoring at least a brace a game you will get oddball extreme views that he’s not up to it of course, I can’t recall any posters offering to drive him anywhere or arguing that conflicting views were drug induced though.
Fully accepted I wasn’t aware I was disputing that I was merely questioning why some of the Lyon fans have a lowly opinion of him that’s all, nothing more & nothing less, of course he can play & he is better than we’ve got for sure in that department.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:45 amIf the scouts have identified him and SD is happy to get him just accept it. I think he's looked pretty decent when he's played on the right. Would be intrigued to see how that worked out. However I imagine if we signed Cornet they would probably both rotate wings during the game. Ultimately, I still think the plan for McNeil would be to play as a 10 eventually.
Yep, he looks proper sh!te.creepingdeath wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:49 amLooks an absolute 2 footed donkey from lique 1 on the old youtube

He’s seems to have been shunted around between wings and FB. Possibly they’ve not recognised the best of him?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:49 amFully accepted I wasn’t aware I was disputing that I was merely questioning why some of the Lyon fans have a lowly opinion of him that’s all, nothing more & nothing less, of course he can play & he is better than we’ve got for sure in that department.

Thanks for that, reassuring that he’s played more on RW and the stats clearly show he’s more effective there. Also just watched the video posted and he appears much more on the right than the others I’ve watched. Hopefully we’ve picked up on that.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 2:33 amIts only last season he was playing left back. He's predominantly an inverted right winger like Gudmundsson. Overall, he's played most games on the right wing:

I can personally see it happening, lets hope we can convince him to come.
