Thank You For The Burnley

Post by JR1882 » Wed Aug 18, 2021 12:02 am

We’re nothing special, in fact we’re a bit of a bore
If we sing you a song, you've probably heard it before
But we have a small town, a wonderful thing
And everyone listens when we start to sing
We’re so grateful and proud
All I want is to sing it out loud
So I say

Thank you for the Burnley, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance, what are we?
So I say thank you for the Burnley
For giving it to me

Usually squirm at these but that's got a bit of resonance about it.

That is actually excellent. However I cant imagine the lads in the singing section remembering all the words lol.
Perhaps it is something that can be displayed on the big screens until they learn it all. :D

Slight tweak perhaps to reference the club specifically, unless of course the lyrics refer just to the town?
Still like it though.

Maybe there is a way of putting an appropriate melody to the words on here as well? anyone with a computer/musical bent?

It's already got a melody. Just sing it in your head to the words on here.

Just hope if the CFS get their hands on it they sing it at the original ABBA tempo.🎶🎵 Instead of an indecipherable , break neck 100bpm drum n base version. 😱

might have a dopey appeal for the wine o'clock Abba musical types and Alan Carr fans.

I can imagine it sounding like Alan Partridge's attempts.

Oi! You leave ABBA alone. Classic music which will last forever.

Couldn't resist having a go at the second part:

Thank you for the Burnley, the team we're seeing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without them, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without our team and our Club who are we?
So I say thank you for the Burnley

One from Mr Pace, in about 2 weeks:

Did you think we would give up trying
to sign a new player or two?
Watch this space and they'll soon be flying
up and down the wings for you.

Can you feel it, I'm all a tremble
perhaps it's the Longsides's noise?
But I think it's that I remember
running with the Burnley boys!

I'll get me coat.

Good effort. Won’t catch on Sadly. The days of Clever, new songs on the turf went with the terracing im afraid.

the way things are going I think maybe S.O.S might be a more appropriate song.

Great effort but for me it’s still, “No one likes us and Lancashire homes” that sums up our club.

Love it. Usually find songs on message board very dull. This is simple and yet clever.

Great effort, but sadly zero chance of the younger singing generations being able to do it at the right speed / tempo!
