Good post exactly replicates how I feel.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 10:25 pmRe Josh Brownhill and Leeds, no idea if there is any truth in this, I'm sure every club gets its fair share of bullshit written about it.
I like Brownhill and think we aren't getting the best out of him. Playing wide, dropped for Jack. My post is more about SDs comments re Saturday. He says that it's difficult because they are close in ability, which may well be true in his opinion. I'd argue that if they are that close then Brownhill should get the nod everytime. There is room for Improvement in Josh and Jack is past that point. Josh can only Improve if he's given a regular starting spot, in his preferred position, which for me is in the attacking midfield role. We need to strengthen the starting XI, if we can't buy anyone we need to start utilising the talent we have.
I've nothing against Cork, who will remain a valuable member of the squad, but if we aren't going to play Brownhill what was the point of buying him in the first place.
The talk about Cavalho at Fulham, only 18, leads to the question when are we going to see our youngsters given an opportunity. Yes, they are around the squad, and on the bench, but it's almost as if SD has a gear of giving these lads a chance. McNeil only got his opportunity through injury to others. Would he even still be at the club if those injuries hadn't forced Sean's hand?

Lets hope we aren't pishing in the wind with Cornet, although it wouldn't surprise me if we were.
The window is running down and its about time we got some deals over the line, our lack of activity is embarrassing

Love Asheville! Definite hippie vibe. Saw the second leg against reading in a brewery there. Although I once nearly got snowed in my hotel and had to drive through the mountain pass to Knoxville in a Yaris in first gear sliding all over the place to escape.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 1:47 amIts pretty nice (its no Berlin !) I've been living here about 15 years. There are lots of outdoor things to do (kayaking, mountain biking, hiking), Asheville has a ton of breweries, and is pretty liberal and laid back.
The city is really reliant on tourism, and Covid has taken its toll but we seem to be recovering.
At about 2500 ft, so its slightly cooler than the rest of North Carolina, summer are still pretty humid but not too bad.
We get 4 seasons and have averaged 1 decent snow each year (4+ inches) for the last few years.
The cost of living is pretty steep, but from your name, I take it you are in California, which has some truly expensive places to live, so the home prices might not be shocking for you.
and to stay on topic for Transfer rumors..... I think Cornet will get over the line.

Why waste all this money on Cornet when we can sign Bannan and Lennon for peanuts?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
And half of them filled with snide remarks about older players bla bla bla. If posters think that they can do a better job than Sean Dyche/Alan Pace then they are in the wrong job themselves.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:21 amYes! 130 pages of mainly nothing worth reading, including this post.
And, before countless posters come down on me like a ton of bricks, yes I know that this is a message board for discussion and opinions. But the same poster coming out ad nauseam with the same comments about going for Bannan rather than Hughes and posts to the same effect is vomit inducing. We already know your opinion so you do not need to repeat after every young pup is mentioned (not even linked!).

I think Leeds backed out. They don’t have much spare this year. They’ve been looking at the Huddersfield lad and balked.

It doesn't matter whether you're a professional footballer, Dentist, or factory worker, nobody does their best work if they aren't happy. We'll never get 100% from someone reluctant to be here, it doesn't matter how good he is.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 1:28 amDoes it really matter if we aren’t his preferred choice as long as he plays well, if you was to ask lots of footballers carrying out their business on a decent level was this club your number 1 destination the answer would be a big fat NO in some cases, professional footballers mostly just knuckle down & get on with the job even if not 100% happy, we don’t always get what we want from life & football is no different. If he arrives here kicking & screaming nobody will care as long as he performs well.

Worth mentioning again, but all these transfer rumour sites, and fan sites rely on clicks and retweets/shares
So one false claim by one, gets picked up by most of them
I know not everyone uses twitter, but it normally only takes a couple of minutes searching to find the source, and its fairly obvious straight away whether its genuine or not.

If we do sign Cornet, he'll be off to the African Cup of Nations come January 2022. So Sept to Dec to get him Dyche fit and acclimatised. Might be ready for a game come Mid Feb.

Normally & usually that’s the case, but let’s not forget & please remember the footballer will be looking to impress & possibly move away if not 100% happy, a dentist will always be working in the same practice there’s no possible movement for enhancement change not to the degree of the a footballer.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:50 amIt doesn't matter whether you're a professional footballer, Dentist, or factory worker, nobody does their best work if they aren't happy. Can someone explain what 'Dyche fit' means?
Are we to believe that any new signing who rolls up at Gawthorpe/Barnfield is completely unfit until they become 'Dyche fit?'

Its basically that SD wants them to have an idea how we play
We have a unique style at this level
But Cornet will be on the bench as soon as he arrives, and remember that Defour started the first game as well, so it all depends on what we need and when

Genuine question for yourself and the few others who are clearly in the Dyche out section, have you considered forming a little group, all getting together on a match day and showing the board your displeasure ? Maybe even a protest but not during the game as that would be a negative atmosphere. You could all meet up on Brunshaw Rd and get some Dyche out chants going or even some bedsheets with messages on held up in the stands.
Even if it didn't work at least you would have the knowledge you made 99% of Burnley fans laugh.

It almost beggars belief that the Dyche out lot seriously seriously think our squad can play “ attractive football “ can you imagine what would happen if we fully opened up??

I think we can play a more possession passed style, but not with 4-4-2, and not without a fair bit of investment to give us more optionsAlargeClaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 11:13 amIt almost beggars belief that the Dyche out lot seriously seriously think our squad can play “ attractive football “ can you imagine what would happen if we fully opened up??
And I think we have to evolve at some stage, as tactics can get stale and we can get sussed out a lot quicker
Certainly Brighton looked like to have sussed us 2nd half

We were fitter, wanted it more and had a good mix of football (I'll admit largely down to having the right players)
Currently teams seem to have got fitter and faster and this has taken one of our facets away.
Maximum effort is the minimum requirement for most teams now, I believe Liverpool and Klopp were one of the first to realise this after us.
Then you look at our current players and we no longer have the personnel to mix it up in the same way.
Football is ever changing and over the past season or two we have been getting left behind, that could be down to not being willing to change things or down to not willing to spend, a mix of both more likely.
Hopefully there's a few signings to come in.
