What's the big ponce worried about, he's said it himself
"In a lot of moments, we played a brilliant game without scoring. In all the other moments, we had to fight incredibly hard. We won it and nobody got injured."

Thought his comments were reasonable. He is the manager of the opposition after all and he’s got to be seen to be sticking up for his players’ interests.
And some of the petty personal abuse is a bit pathetic.

Jermaine Jenas called him out on 5live on the way home too. Said he’d have to watch the game back to find the dirty play he was referring to, because he didn’t see any, and that generally refereeing decisions have been much better this season after the game had lost its way over the last few years. Also said it’s a shame that Klopp, as one of the key figures in the game, isn’t lauding those improvements. Don’t always agree with Jenas but he was spot onSpijed wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 7:11 pmJurgen Klopp: Liverpool boss says Premier League in danger of going '10 to 15 years backwards'

Re: Klopp post match interview
He has had it in for us since Ben Mee, I think, fairly tackled Gomez but he unfortunately broke his leg.
As has been mentioned teams like Burnley shouldn't be on the same pitch as his pampered "superstars".

Re: Klopp post match interview
So, are you intimating that he wants to see 'tackling omitted from the game? If you are then there's little else to discuss. If you aren't then please inform us all of how 'his players' interests were threatened in a game of no bookings( very unusual in this day and age). I think there was more 'going on' between the rival benches in the 2nd half. That's what gets under Klopp's sensitive skin and unfortunately the modern day interviews are designed to massage his already inflated ego. A home win, 6 points out of 6, no bookings, no injuries and a full house is just never going to be enough for the greedy German.

Re: Klopp post match interview
Well, I guess he thought his players were getting treated roughly otherwise he wouldn’t have said anything. But really it’s not worth making a fuss over. These heat of the moment interviews probably not the best opportunity to get reasoned level-headed comments.
And I’m sure if Klopp was our manager we’d love him and be hanging onto his every utterance as if they were golden nuggets.

Re: Klopp post match interview
I'm loving "the big match revisited" series on itv4. I've still not seen Burnley play, but they've had about two teams-worth of ex-players.
This week there was a Chelsea v wolves match from div 2. One sequence showed an incident with high studs, overreaction, a Chelsea player running in and grabbing someone by the throat. I made it a yellow for wolves, 3 x reds for Chelsea by today's standards. 1977 decision? No cards. Free kick wolves and get on with it.

Strong wind
Long grass
Dry grass
Sore throats
He’s a perfect representative of his insufferable supporters. Liverpool supporters are taking the **** today and boiling my blood. Instead of focusing on their win all I’m hearing is about our brand of football and how much they hate The Boss and how they hope we get relegated.

Re: Klopp post match interview
This is complete and utter nonsense. This was a game where we could (perhaps should) ha e had a penalty, and where JBG was borderline assaulted rather than just checked approaching their 18 yard box in the 1st half.
To add to this, there were no yellow cards (as far as I’m aware), no players went off injured or stayed down for long (excepting Tarky and JBG) and there were no flash points.
It was a proper game of football. I’d wager VVD and Matip enjoyed the fact they came out on top today and walking back to our car afterwards, I didn’t hear a single Scouser echoing Klipperty’s views at all. More that we played well, we defended well (who knew defending was also part of football) and that we are a very good team that will be fine this season.
His comments were at best a rallying cry to the fans who were terrible, at worst a speech written in the months between the game last season when we beat them 1-0 and he was going to say that today no matter what. Dyche has his number off the pitch. It’s nice that he's had it on it as well - and in summary, I thought we played very well today, and more than matched them but the gulf in quality showed. Twice.
UTC!

It's like Scottish independence. Why do people take such offence at it when all they really want is rid of them once and for all.
Klopp’s comments sum up “the big six” …it’s an inconvenience playing teams that put up a fight (but play fair!).
Sky couldn’t wait to tell us how bad the European Super League was because its in their interest.
For me, let them take the money, their plastic fans and the annoying kick off times.

I bet Mike Dean, if he was allowed to comment, would say it's as easy a game as he's had for years and there were no incidents of note at all. I'm struggling to find incidents where even the most book-friendly of referees could find someone to book.
Maybe Klopp had believed all the "Burnley are thugs" hype and had recorded his press conference before the match? Or had learned his lines and didn't want to change them?

Perhaps Klopp is trying to soften the Liverpool fans for a rejoin of the ESL? If that is so, I hope that the EFL does not allow them to compete domestically.
Re: Klopp post match interview
I think he needs to go back to his opticians, the laser treatment is obviously blurring his vision.

Re: Klopp post match interview
Only wrestling type move was when JBG did a little bear hug on someone and lifted them out of the way.
I think that may have stuck in Jurgens mind, but also there will be an eye on Liverpool's next opponent or also the next time Dean referees them, to get some decisions
.
It was a very easy game to referee, and with hardly any incidents at all.

It reminds me of the time I played Badminton against one of the better players in the club, who was one of the big six.
I hit his returns with such force he fluffed his shots. He grew more and more angry as my score rose.
He didn’t play against me again, his embarassment compounded by the fact I was from a different class.
The parallel with Klopp and his feelings about Burnley are the same as my badminton experience.

Ole Gunnar Solskear was just complaining about the foul on Fernandez before the Saints goal, saying it was taking the game backwards. This led the pundits (Souness, Campbell and Keane) to discuss Klopp’s comments about Burnley yesterday. All of them said Klopp was wrong and Burnley’s style of play is the only way for smaller clubs to play against the top six, Souness saying that’s why the PL is the best league in the world.

Klopp probably had in mind that minutes prior to his interview, he was a Ben Mee header and Ashley Barnes finish away from talking about a draw.
With that in mind, he has to throw in a grenade to distract from the fact that his side didn’t totally demolish us, Citeh style.
Standard manager behaviour, say something mental to distract from your team.
Nothing to see here.
