Dan James' contract ran until 2024
Dwight McNeil is first choice, played twice the amount of games for us as James did for Utd.
McNeil will step up when he leaves, James has stepped down.
These details matter.

He's not stepped down in terms of pursuing the best career path for himself but he has in terms of present club stature.

A good window for us, but I’d have loved a creative central attacking midfielder to have come in as well, although I do appreciate that might be seen as somewhat greedy.

Wouldn’t have thought Barkley would be the kind of character that Dyche would go for.

Barkley definitely has a drinkwater feel about him, might be wise to try and get another bargain from aborad in January if we know anyone like Cornet but who plays centrally.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Boden has just repeated that Barkley ain’t happening.

You have to wonder why Dean Smith did not want to sign Barkley with all the money Villa have at their disposal.

I’m hearing there could possibly be one more, a loan.
But it will go to the wire and without a medical.

How much do you think the training ground has to do with players like Cornet signing for us? Do you think it is all pretty much down to Premier League football and the wages on offer, or does the new training ground draw players in as well as a place to work each day? Apart from everything done on the pitch, it surely has to be the lasting legacy of Dyche's reign?

I think it helps but at the level of player we are now looking at, I doubt it makes a decisive difference to them. As good as our facility is compared to what we used to have, the vast majority of clubs now have amazing facilities for the senior players.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:13 pmHow much do you think the training ground has to do with players like Cornet signing for us? I think as you mentioned the salary, the contract length and the managers plans will help them decide.
I think, and hope that it will help more with younger players, who hopefully will have many many years to come working at the training ground, and more importantly impress their parents who will have a big say in the initial signature..

Great news I've heard Newcastle United are signing Neymar! That's Neymar defenders, Neymar midfielders and Neymar strikers. (Stolen from a very good friend of mine)

I personally think this window ha been the best since 82 when I became a Claret, not only because the club far exceeded on those coming in, but we kept hold of our best players at a time when money is a wash across premiere league clubs have gone balls deep on money and could have been easy to cash out. Well done the board, and lets hope SD signs now he has had the backing.

A positive thing to note during this transfer window is the contracts signed by our new incomings, 4-5 year deals. Normally it's 3 isn't it? Historically I mean. We either have some serious finance or a more persuasive owner, or both.

Given that he's been nowhere near Burnley I wouldn't say the training ground has made any difference whether he signed or not. Do players sign because of it? I know players turned us down when it was in a poor state.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:13 pmHow much do you think the training ground has to do with players like Cornet signing for us?
