Today's footie 12/9/21
Not much today, which for a Sunday is unusual.
Hearts-Hibs meet in a high noon top of the table SPL clash.
Forest-Cardiff in the Champ at 2.30, a Cardiff win would take them above Rovers. So come on the Bluebirds.
Then the big one of the day, Leeds-Liverpool at 4,30, an away win would again be the order of the day for Burnley fans.

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Finished 0-0 in the Edinburgh derby, mainly due to both keepers.
Ginnelly came on for the last 25 minutes, and did OK without creating anything of note.
Worrall starts for Forest in their game.

1-0 Forest at HT, and this would be a huge win for them, and Chris hughton in particular, as he must be fearing for his job.

Losing again at home.
Somethings got to give at Forest

Strange that Leeds have spent a fortune but yet still have truly awful center backs

How many man buns have Leeds go on show today?
Liverpool still appear to be caught in 80's Liverpoodle mode.

Nasty injury for Harvey Elliott, not good when the physios run on before the referee could stop play.

Red Card for Pascal Struijk, is that harsh or not, I'm not watching, so can't comment on the incident.

Be nice to see whether it was actually a red card foul.

Awful injury but not sure it was a red having played it back a few times. Not sure Klopp should be allowed to talk to the ref prior to sending off either.

No replays but didn’t look malicious in real time. RC was a Var decision
Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
No doubt Klopp will be wanting a lifetime ban.

Red card given for severity of injury rather than the actual challenge IMO

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Didn’t look like a dirty challenge - but it was very clumsy. Unfortunate to be red carded. Looks like a certain leg break which is a huge blow to the 18 year old. To be honest I had said a couple of minutes before he needs to come off as he was conceding possession too easily - and ironically Henderson was about to come on for him. Klopp going to have a field day about the physical side of the game despite this game being very free flowing.
Wishing the lad all the best in his recovery!!

Awful for the young lad, didn’t look a red not showed a repeat. Don’t agree with it being a red just because of the bad injury.

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Not rewinding that one but didn’t look a red to me. Gutted for Elliot though, such a talent we’ll now be deprived of for a fair while.
Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Always hard to see a player suffer a serious injury but never, ever a red card.
Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Feel desperately sorry for such a talented young player to be on the end of an injury like that. Very unpleasant.
Klopp is going to be absolutely unbearable tonight, though. Please, Sky, just lock him in a dark room somewhere for 24 hours, let him froth on his own and get it out of his system without broadcasting his histrionics.

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
I’m still not sure if it was or wasn’t a red tbh
Struijk wins the ball with his right foot on Elliots left side
It was his left leg tucked underneath as he tackled that took Elliot out
It is a huge shame for him though as he’s been one of Liverpool better players so far this season

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
To be fair, I tnink we'd be supporting Dyche's "histrionics" if , say, McNeil were to have his season ended by such a so-called clumsy challenge.
Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Looked pretty bad to me, sliding tackle from behind with not much control of his trailing leg.
Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
I wonder what Mr Klopps going to call Leeds after he said we were like watching a wrestling match and we didn’t have a booking if I remember rightly. So far they’ve had 2 bookings and a sending off.
Harvey Elliott
That looks a real bad injury, fingers crossed for the lad but looked awful, in fairness I didn't think it was a red card but given the injury and the shock on both sets of players I get why Pawson showed him red

Re: Today's footie 12/9/21
Sky reported Pawson was giving it a red and the delay was because he wanted to get the medics on for Elliott and VAR confirmed to stick with his decision.
Awful decision, never a red card, not even a foul, only given because of the injury involved which is a terrible decision.

Re: Harvey Elliott
Horrific injury for the young lad to suffer, however wasn't it the VAR official who ruled on the red card after watching the replay, I haven't seen the incident yet, but most posters on here, and the pundits seem to think the red card was harsh.
I wouldn't be

Also it does make me wonder whether Klopp's recent comments had any bearing on this decision, he's been banging on about the physical nature of our game for a few weeks now, and this must influence officials whether they'll admit it or not.

I wouldn’t listen to a word that came out of Klopps mouth, up there with the worst losers in football, I despise him.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 6:26 pmHorrific injury for the young lad to suffer, however wasn't it the VAR official who ruled on the red card after watching the replay, I haven't seen the incident yet, but most posters on here, and the pundits seem to think the red card was harsh.
I wouldn't beif Leeds appeal, and if they do appeal I can see it being rescinded.

Wasn’t a red, you even get away without a yellow usually for that.
Liverpool fans will be calling for capital punishment and say it was deliberate etc

Re: Harvey Elliott
If it was Ben Mee who had received a red for the challenge we would be going ballistic, really feel for the lad but Leeds should appeal the red and I think it would get overturned, a bit similar to the Son one at Goodison the other season
