Maybe should have won today. We weren’t as atrocious as many would have you believe and the arrogance that we should expect to be able to hammer Norwich is frustrating.

Well at least we've climbed a place in the table and only one point off 17.
Though utterly no idea how we are going to win a game this season if we can't beat that lot. Surprising though still 4 teams without a win, we only have to finish top of that league.

That Norwich team could honestly go down as one of the worst teams in premier league history. I would not be surprised if they win less than 3 games all seasonIndecisive wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:02 pmSwerving this message board for a couple of weeks, life is negative enough without throwing this in the

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
I don’t think it’s about hammering them but to be fair they had lost 16 on the spin. Plus they were comfortably one of the poorer teams I’ve seen over the 90. It’s the fact we’ve created next to nothing.Indecisive wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:02 pmSwerving this message board for a couple of weeks, life is negative enough without throwing this in the

I always worry when a team lines up at the start with 3 central defenders because I bet you can count on one hand the number of times we've come out on top when facing that formation on one hand in all the years Dyche has been here. Let's just hope opposing managers don't start to play that formation every weekend because we do absolutely f

Some fans seem happy to sleepwalk back to the championship. Some want to change things to try and improve.

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
Its ok, calm down - pretty sure there's a relegation clause in that new 4 year contract, no way we would contract ourselves to a premiership salary for the championship league.................hmmmmm..........or would we ? could be the highest paid championship manager in history ?

Last season we had 2 points from 7 games, yet still stayed up.
This season we have 3 points from 7 games, and yet some folks are suggesting we're already relegated, yes we have issues obviously, but we' aren't a million miles away from winning games, and in this league it's always going to be a struggle for teams like us.
I do admit our home form is a concern, and this is where we miss someone who can create that one moment in a game to turn a 0-0 into a 1-0.
Cornet may help in this respect when he returns, but we could really do with a creative type in January, ideally we'd have got one in the summer, but for a variety of reasons that didn't happen.

We'll probably go and beat City now at the Etihad...
But obviously we won't, of course. A morale boosting 5-0 thrash to overcome next then....
Dyche sitting pretty. Can't say he'll be that fagged about it will he?

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
It was but TBF you do have to take the calibre of opposition into account, however Collins was part of a backline that kept a clean sheet, so in that regard he has be considered a success, and it won't do his confidence any harm will it. Ditto Nick Pope who's had his own issues this season.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:02 pmMissing Ben Mee?

It's all well and good fans coming on here with their holier-than-thou attitude towards those who are vociferously disappointed with how bad we are performing but the facts are the facts! We are an abject and turgid side currently, with the occasional glimmer of promise. I'm behind Dyche to sort it, but it needs sorting soon. Where our next win is coming from I have no idea.

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
Bad result. No expectation to thrash Norwich but we have to win games to stay up, and a home game against the worst side in the league is a good place to start. Dismal run of results, particularly at turf Moor, getting hard to see where we're going to get the points we need. At the moment it's very hard to find 3 teams worse than us, the league is stronger this year and we are not. A lot of pressure on Cornet when he returns to lift us creatively along with Vyds and Mcneill.
I'm not hysterical, and don't want Dyche fired, those are just the facts as I see them.

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
Negativity! Form is awful over 2 seasons. We have just given Norwich their first point. They are awful! Yes we were missing Cornet, can look forward to Roberts. But if Wood doesn't score we are fcked. More worrying is Lennon starting and repeating the same balls and tactics over and over again. We are in trouble, simple as that!

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
But if we'd splashed out say £15m on AMN for example, maybe we wouldn't then have been able to stretch our finances to get Cornet.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:14 pm“Variety of different reasons” = 1 reason not being able to afford or reluctance to spend the players were available always have been at a price.
Of course the players are available at a price, but we have to shop sensibly.
And it's not only the initial transfer fees that's our problem, it seems to be more the salaries that we're struggling to match.
A defour type could well have made all the difference today, alas they generally don't come cheap, hence why we've never adequately replaced Defour.

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
Even Norwichs bench was a lot stronger than ours today. Cornet was a good signing but it's fairly evident over 6 seasons we just can't afford to dine at the top table. The squad can do better than this, but not much better. We're probably a bottom 3 squad in terms of ability

Re: Burnley v Norwich: Match thread
It's not just about spending money on new players. It's having a plan to change things during a game to get a result. After 45 mins of seeing every high cross easily dealt with by Hanley you would imagine a manager would suggest through balls on the deck. But no we just keep doing the same things over and over again!

There won’t be a weaker team to visit us. We just look so weak in the final third. We could have played all night and not scored. Really poor run of results at Turf Moor.

There entire business plan is reliant on premier league income.
