faroe islands V scotland
A total embarrassment, only 1-0 late winner against a place with less population than Burnley.
The Scots are kidding themselves that they are progressing. Barely more than a pub team held them at bay for most of the match.

Re: faroe islands V scotland
A win’s a win. Denmark only beat them 1-0 last month. Clearly no mugs, who can keep it solid and I imagine it’s not the easiest place to play.
Re: faroe islands V scotland
Good win against an accomplished defence.
Faroe Isles did very well, as they have done all tournament. Odd goal most matches. They have 4 points.
I see England failed to win against Hungary. It is not always easy.

Re: faroe islands V scotland
hardly comparable Ian, a nation with a decent pedigree , they once hammered england 6-3, against a rock in the atlantic with more seagulls than people.

At risk of spoiling a good quote, the UK has more seagulls than people as well.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 12:42 amhardly comparable Ian, a nation with a decent pedigree , they once hammered england 6-3, against a rock in the atlantic with more seagulls than people.

We had more subs on than in a preseason friendly.

Lets hope the bitters get the hardest draw possible in the play off and get humped all over the place. The world cup is a better competition without them in it.

At risk of being a massive dullard and pedant. The most common gull is the Herring gull, and its population is roughly 300,000.

I'd like all the home nations to qualify. I think it always makes the tournament that bit better.

You sound hurt peter, please do though explain why someone not wanting Scotland to qualify for a tournament means no knowledge or keyboard warrior.peter_nobles_fringe wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:17 amUsual type of comment on here no obvious football Knowledge just keyboard warrior bitterness
Hopefully your response to this is a little more intelligent than your first reply, but I doubt it.

Re: faroe islands V scotland
How lucky were the sweaty socks again last night, debatable VAR pen in Austria, a questionable 2nd goal against Israel, and a 93rd minute winner in the same game, then a fluky 86th minute winner in the Faroes last night, after an abysmal display, surely their luck can't hold all the way to Qatar can it.
What you do have to say is Steve Clarke has got them fighting for a whole 90 minutes now, and their team spirit can't be questioned, whether that will prove enough to get them to their 1st WC in 24 years time will tell, but they've at least given themselves a punchers chance.

I think it is fair to say that when England play a team, the Scots fervently support our opponents almost to a man.
Whereas the English probably view a Scots game with nothing more than mild interest and usually amusement.

Scotland were crap last night, for sure. However, they are 4 points clear of Israel now, so looking ok for a play off.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 12:42 amhardly comparable Ian, a nation with a decent pedigree , they once hammered england 6-3, against a rock in the atlantic with more seagulls than people.
Hungary was 1953, shortly after my birth!
They have long been crap.

Re: faroe islands V scotland
How nice for E××land to get a **** easy group again and make the whole media bandwagon make them favourites to win the tournament AGAIN.
The press and the so called fans will slaughter them AGAIN when they lose another semi - final and pick out certain individuals as scapegoats.
At least the other home nations enjoy the ride and have a party along the way.

They drew with France 1-1 and Germany 2-2 in the most recent European competition.
Not as crap as you think.

In the 70s having been in a house share in London with 5 scotsmen (all grand lads aside from football related stuff) I can only concur that the first sentence above would be my view also. All 5 fervently supported whoever England were playing against. The England v Poland game being a particularly joyful occasion for them.Alanstevensonsgloves wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 7:06 pmI think it is fair to say that when England play a team, the Scots fervently support our opponents almost to a man.

I will accept that as you can't then. Maybe think before throwing insults around in future.
I will also not act like you and call you a w****r just because I don't like something you said.
